Here is my fit:
Sica
Militia Railgun Damage Amplifier Militia Railgun Damage Amplifier
Basic Armour Hardener Basic Armour Repairer
At the moment I'm either sniping or trying to get around the back of tanks. The two damage amps work amazingly well for this - but I would like to upgrade to a Federation Madrugar soon. I have a ready supply of them from the LP store - unfortunately I cannot remove the turrets. I can fit basic mods of all kinds bar the damage amplifiers - How should I go about fitting the Madrugar, and how should I play it?
That is rather close to my Soma fit which I use more aggressively than the standard redline Tank Buster I see in game.
The Duals Damage Amplifiers are a good choice for engaging multiple tanks over time, or one in a position where the engagement is going to be drawn out.
My Maddy Fit which I tend to run either fits
Railgun Damage Amplifier Railgun Damage Amplifier
Enhanced Armour Hardener Enhances/Basic Armour Repper CPU Upgrade
or
Railgun Damage Amplifier Basic Scanner
Enhanced Armour Repper Enhanced/ Basic Armour Repper Misc Slot for utility.
Most enemy rail tanks will spend a great deal of time on the extreme flanks of the map, or close to their red line so you probably wont need the scanner to know where they are. As you have said the dual amplifiers works amazingly for increasing the potency of your alpha....and a good alpha strike will panic the hell out of any non experienced tanker every time, they'll reverse and pull back probably exposing themselves to a killing blow.
I have some more stuff I'll add later but never underestimate the effectiveness of a scanner with the Rail gun. Counter intuitive but since rail duels are so decisive, you either kill in 3-4 hits or are outed due to over heat or enemy manoeuvres, knowing where your opponents are in areas with cover or areas that aren't visible to your team.
Can't tell you how many times I have ambushed enemy MLT's on the move with this handy little tool, or escaped two tanks closing in on me.

I actually came up against Flix in a battle tonight and I can say that he had a huge advantage over me in the way he chose to engage.
I was running my Utility Blaster Tank
Adv Nitrous Std Scanner
2x Adv Hardeners 1x Adv Repper
Vs
What I think was a 2x Hardener Extended Rail Logi fit.
What resulted was a situation where I had just destroyed one enemy Sica, when I was told Flix, who I didn't know was present at the time, was off outside of the compound.
Now I have no trouble with the standard Gunlogi pilot but Flix not only stationed himself 200m off the exit point where I was going to appear from but was in open ground where he would have a significant advantage.
SO I went storming out there expecting an unprepared tanker as opposed to a skilled vigilant one, and was shocked to find him in wait.
Given the situation I tried what typically works against rail tanks, outmanoeuvring his turrets tracking speed. I get to his 9 o'clock and I think I have him when for the first time I think I came up against a double hardener activation.
Realising this I did the only thing I could without risking being destroyed and that was bailed on the fight using that superior maddy speed. I think he disconnected that match because after that I nailed another 3 tanks and wasn't owned by rail fire.
