t8r is good. He will fly into hell to pick us up and take us to the next point. He is one of the only pilots I've seen that fit no guns are in order to do his job.
black hole nova is good he can slaughter all match long. He kills me when he sees me and I him. We been buddies since chrome.
ngrunthos is good I have purchased his services and the money was not wasted. He often makes the mistake of killing me. Then he must die in a fire.
Herrick arcos was honestly the best pilot I have seen. He is a tanker now but that's how I met him he had drop points and gunnery commands down. As he was positioning the ship you were getting orders to which turret to use.
the rest are fodder. Never took down names as they were just falling stars.
There was a time we fought good tankers. Now we just fight good tanks.

See, I don't understand why you'd say that last sentence there, "the rest are fodder", yet, there are at least 10+ other veteran proto pilots that I have flown with who do a literally un-remarkable job at flying and yet they go un-listed here. And again, this is why I posted the OP, just because you can think of a few pilots doesn't mean that that's nearly all of them, just the ones you have seen/experienced a few games with. Darken, i suggest you join up in 1st Airborne or Condor Squad and then sq up with some of the pilots there, you may be surprised at the level of skill many of them show.
with no clear way to judge who is the best or what the best means all we have is opinion. I have been heavy AV since chrome. Dropships are fodder. The few pilots I have interacted have outperformed their crappy equipment. The dudes I listed are my personal favorites and have time and time again proved their piloting skills. Nobody else has been noteworthy. Just like tankers, AV guys keep a list. Sadly my tanker list is useless now because tanking is a joke

Dual hardeners. FG can barely scratch a drop ship now. Good "pilots" are a dime a dozen. You got the same complex the tankers got. When CCP unties AVs hands we will see who's good. Until then I will endure everyone's bragging and hiding behind mommas skirt.

Before this update even came out I was killing forge gunners who thought they could 1 shot me, but were proven wrong with my fitting. Have you even seen me, judge, or the other pilots I listed in the OP fly? And i don't even fit hardeners! And neither do most of the other pro pilots I fly with, I can take shots and recover from them by using speed and maneuverability to get myself out of sticky situations, not a hardener. 2 Complex Shield Extenders sure, but no active modules of any kind except for my complex afterburner in my speedy and transport fit, and my hard hitter fit which has a complex missile dmg amplifier.
thing is the pilots I mentioned have always been bad ass.
