There are in fact many different gender neutral cartoons directed at audiences of different age groups, and even more still with barely visible lines drawn around the target audience such as many Anime. The thing is, it isn't just any old gender neutral cartoon. My Little Pony has a very obvious and specific target audience, namely, prepubescent girls. One must seriously question grown men not only being entertained by it, but, and especially, developing a "Fandom" for the show. I'm also not arguing that masculinity should be some completely misogynistic philosophy. Truly masculine men are not properly portrayed in today's society. Instead anything "masculine" is portrayed as brutish, unfeeling, and crude, which is just not realistic.
