At least make them cost ISK so they lose something for being bad at DUST. I didn't get my free Militia tanks.
CCP, why do I have to pay more than 50k per tank when apparently some people get them free?
Oh, right, this "free tanks" thing was a flat out LIE.
You get Militia DROPSUITS for free with Starter Fits. You don't get free VEHICLES. And you CERTAINLY don't get free TANKS. They're cheap (until you fit... ANYTHING on them), but they are most definitely NOT free. |

A good player in a Protosuit can afford 3 or 4 in a match pretty comfortably, and will frequently NOT die even that often, remaining in their suit the whole battle AND still making a profit. A competent tanker with a cheap enough Militia tank to actually afford more than 2 in a single match will still be dying regularly, and occasionally coming out with a loss in ISK if they don't revert to even cheaper infantry fittings to avoid going negative.
When you're running Proto gear and it looks like you're going to go negative if you don't cut back, you can still cut back while filling the same battlefield role. Tanks can't do the same. |

When you're running Proto gear and it looks like you're going to go negative if you don't cut back, you can still cut back while filling the same battlefield role. Tanks can't do the same. You're comparing prototype gear that takes months of grinding to unlock, to militia tanks that are unlocked at character creation. And you don't see the problem with this? You can afford 3-4 militia tanks per battle (65k for mine with no BPOs equipped), and if you lose more than two you're doing something very wrong or the enemy just has their **** in order. I'm comparing gear that performs similarly for the price paid in ISK, and pointing out that the gear in question performs similarly.
As a new player, you CAN load up on Militia tanks and do better than is reasonable for someone in Militia gear. But you're paying more than is reasonable for someone using Militia gear, and you don't get a full upgrade tree like someone in any other Militia gear in the game is able to get.
Vehicles get Militia and Standard. LITERALLY EVERYONE ELSE gets Advanced and Prototype on top.
ALL current vehicles need a slight nerf to PG and CPU so that a pure Militia HAV fit with a full complement of weapons and modules will be a challenge without a lot of skilling, but you can comfortably fit about a 50/50 Militia/Standard loadout on a Militia HAV. Standard vehicles should be able to fit a full complement of Standard modules and weapons with maybe a couple of Advanced or ONE Prototype item, or you can leave slots open to cram a couple more high-tier upgrades on.
Along with the above nerf, there will be room for Advanced and Prototype HAVs which are actually DESIGNED to fit the kind of loadouts we're currently seeing on half-Proto Militia HAVs and full-Proto Gunnlogis and Madrugars.
Give a small nerf to Militia vehicle HP while you're at it, and maybe a VERY small buff to AV to avoid Prototanks getting any more hate than those Proto-ed out Standard tanks we have now and we should be about right. |

I wonder why we didn't see this in all of dusts patches until now? because they was no tank spamming (to much ISK to lose) and no one had the balls. You also know what funny Active Scanners before you get WP for scanning, Scrambler Rifles, and contact grenades all when they first came out was OP for months till it became the FOTM people start QQing. -There have been threads as far back as closed beta (and not just during the vehicle-heavy builds) asking for some kind of delay on getting in and out of vehicles, Nobody was previously stupid enough to propose a THIRTY SECOND DELAY though. There are precious few who even thought 10 was sensible. Most wanted a 2 - 3 second animation at worst.
-I know plenty of Scouts who got upset with Active Scanners as soon as they came out, and there have been plenty more who pointed to Active Scanners as a near-perfect hard counter when idiots tried to complain that Scouts are OP because their precious FOTM CalLogi got 2-shotted where any other non-Heavy suit would have died in one to the same Shotgun Scout.
-Scrambler Rifles had people pre-emptively calling for nerfs and being 100% serious before the weapon even existed, and more than half the people doing so, along with the majority of people who told them it was stupid complaining early jumped on the nerf train as soon as they came out.
-Contact grenades have been complained about all the way back to closed beta when the only way to get them was the Merc Pack, and when they introduced a pathetic ISK variant the paid versions AND the ISK variant still got complained about because even the ISK variant was OP compared with other grenades and the AUR model and the Merc Pack version were even more broken.
None of your examples actually shows something OP that people ignored until it became popular. ALL of them got complained about before they were popular, one before it was even available. Turning them into FOTM just made the nerf calls louder. |

At least make them cost ISK so they lose something for being bad at DUST. HEY! im not bad at dust! im bad at tanks X)Plus its not my fault my MLT sica costs 65k while my AV suit costs 185k, but my MLT Sica drops up to 6+ tanks per pub match (if im not grossly outnumbered), and my AV suit needs ''TEAMWORK'' to be able to drop a tank while my tank doesnt. If you're beating other tanks with a 65k Militia fitting, those people are worse at tanks than you. And by a significant margin, too. Don't be so down on yourself. You're good at tanks, compared with the average idiot on the field.
3 tanks, 2 of which had a gunner each, all on the enemy team. 3 AV guys, one of whom was me running the Amarr Starter Fit with a Militia Shield Extender added. 3 enemy infantry. 5 friendly infantry.
Everyone else off sniper camping in the hills or AFK or otherwise doing nothing productive.
Enemy had 2 Gunnlogis and a Soma. We had a Forge Gun and 2 Swarm Launchers. By the end of the match, the Soma had died, the Gunnlogis were heavily damaged and failing to repair up fast enough to be any use, and I ended the match with 1 death to a lucky Railgun hit (balanced by my landing of the killshot on the Soma), while the other AV guys had survived literally the entire match without a single death.
It was a Domination, and at no point did any tank get within 100m of the objective.
If we got vehicle damage WP, this would be totally fair and legit, and we could be identified as having done our jobs.
NOTE: The other 2 AV players were squadded up, but in different squads, and I was the only AV person on team chat, leaving me to guess they were in squad chat and we weren't actually coordinating our efforts as well as we could have with proper voice comms. |
