You know we can back up faster than the best upgraded Scout's sprinting speed, right?
No?
Well now you do. Learn to reverse. It's a very useful skill. Just a shame they won't give us a vaguely-competent control scheme like the L2/R2 reverse/accelerate option that LAVs get... |

Just a shame they won't give us a vaguely-competent control scheme like the L2/R2 reverse/accelerate option that LAVs get... yeah, let me reverse, let my proto missiles do no splash damage to him at all, let me reload in 5 seconds, repeat step 2, my tank is going down in health. *gets out and rips sh*t up then drives way* You're obviously doing it wrong.
1. Don't get that close to AV infantry. 2. No, really, DON'T GET THAT CLOSE TO AV INFANTRY. 3. If you really fail so hard that 1 and 2 are somehow impossible when you have easily MORE THAN TRIPLE the best speed any infantry can manage, pop your hardeners when they open fire, then back up far enough to have a CLEAN shot and slaughter them with ACCURATE fire at a decent range while they either run out into the open to get slaughtered by your friendly infantry or stay in cover where you can hit them if you learn to aim. |

Shield tanks can't hit targets where Armour tanks can while using the same weapons.
That's a legitimate concern. If we had a high enough upward angle that we could effectively combat Dropships, while armour tanks lacked the same ability, I would have less of a problem with this.
But your complaint was that a weapon which is primarily intended for longer-range anti-vehicle use has issues when you're using it in CQC against infantry who you shouldn't be letting get that close in the first place.
And as long as you make it obvious that you're doing a bad job of being a tank, I'll continue to advise you on ways to be better at it. I have had a tank alt since the later stages of closed beta when they nerfed Missile Turrets to borderline uselessness, and I ran a Missile tank at the time. I mostly bring Sicas out when I'm running my tanks, but I have several Gunnlogi fittings as well. When I'm telling you how to tank, I'm speaking from experience. I'm not the best, but I DO know what I'm doing, and if you're failing the basics of 1.7 tanking, I have every right to call you out on it. |

Anmol Singh wrote:Don't tell me you have never let anyone get close to your tank before... It's really hard to kill them with missiles usually because they do like 3 splash damage and the fact that these guys strafe like mofos. I wish missiles were more accurate instead of having massive spread... I've never let enemy infantry get close to my Sica or Gunnlogi without feeling like I did something wrong, or my teammates fell back in spite of having a good tank supporting them.
And unless I'm caught in that situation with my hardeners on cooldown (only happens on my Sica, where I only have one), the infantry in question have never managed to kill me faster than I could back up and get at least 2 - 3 kills. |
