I just lost a 200k suit when I spawned into a brand new Domination battle. The reason was a tank dropping on my head at the ground spawn point.
If I am going to lose 200k because somebody is stupid enough, or more like careless enough to drop their tank where everybody is spawning, then, there should be repercussions for such carelessness.
EVERYBODY in this game knows to move somewhere safe to drop your vehicle. However, some are complete jerks and believe they have to drop it so fast, there is no time to move to a safe location. Besides, why should they, they don't lose anything for dropping it on friendlies.
That needs to change. There needs to be repercussions for careless acts such as this, or dropping uplinks out in the open etc. The careless need to suffer from their inflicted pain, not the other players. |

U mad bro? would you like him to spawn it in the enemy redline? Dont blame the guy, its not like he can control where the RDV deploys his tank, idiot,

Hey there, Phosis. And you're not an idiot. (By the way, I think your merc name is uniquely cool. Nice New Eden originality)
Calling in an RDV kind of affects your entire team (whether you've decided you're a coop-mind OR a loner in this match).
Calling your vehicle in right at the starter gun, and calling it in when there's bound to be a merc or two scrambling by (under the MCC, near the CRU or Depot, middle of the open walled-fort) are lethal misjudgments only Newberrys in Public Contracts can be forgiven for (they're still learning---lot of learning to do for this game!) The first four seconds of my initial spawn into a PC match STILL involves listen-n-RUN CLEAR nervousness... the sudden spotlight on me, the dust, and then watching the $$$ smooshes of mercs behind me who didn't react quickly enough as I did.
Calling your vehicle in out at a secluded part of the map is something good enemy installation operators and AV are looking for--it gives away the position or activity of any fellow mercs working near you--sometimes it's like lighting your buddies up on bad-guy's radar, and every red HAV makes a beeline over to where your RDV is descending. You get to drive or fly away in your newly delivered vehicle... and as you leave, any blue mercs left back where your delivery site was get massacred.
But by FW matches, the fault (yep, it IS the caller's responsibility) has no excuse anymore. Hitting my pal with a stray rail slug is a learning curve issue, but killing him by accidentally crashing the tank over the latrine...requires too much Advil to forgive.
...But Evolution-7's post has a ring of reality in it: it will be near to impossible to develop a demerit system for RDV flubs without aggravating the problem they're already trying to solve with their Friendly Fire analyzer.

I can imagine it now. People running free fits, going around and standing underneath about-to-deploy vehicles...
Brilliant idea. 10/10.

The pile of garbage looks nicer.

These isolated events will happen, and in this case it is possible to learn from your mistakes. It happened to you but it is not a problem that occurs every game, indeed, I haven't seen it happen since 1.7 was released, in both pubs and FW.
I understand it's frustrating. Once I jumped over a railing because I was rubber-banding and didn't know where I was, and fell to my death into a pit in a prototype suit before I even encountered enemies. Cost me 150k. Considered making a thread to get rid of those bottomless pits, but I was too lazy to get to my computer, and eventually I got over it.
Thing is, half the threads here are over minute issues that people just couldn't get over. I'm not saying this thread is pointless, just that it may be wise to take a breather before trying to write it. Then you could locate the root of the problem, such as the sudden influx of tankers and the cumbersome RDV deployment system, and tackle those, instead of jumping straight towards the conclusion that there must be a penalty for team-killing with vehicles being deployed at the whim of drunken RDV pilots.

Spoken like a true intellect. Respond to a post by making a personal attack. You are completely incorrect. Of course he can control where the vehicle drops. I do, I walk away or run away from the spawning teammates, and then drop the vehicle. |

I appreciate your comments. I wasn't looking for justice for me. I was looking for incentive for players to make better decisions. I am frustrated by payoffs for slaughtering your team mates by immediately dropping a spawn link out in the open when that specific location is HOT. But hey, it's great for the guy who drops the link, as the slaughter and even the unsuspecting players who haven't initially spawned yet, come in through the link and give the careless player a ton of extra points.
Same with dropping a vehicle immediately where you spawn, you get to roll out fast, survive and start gathering points. Who cares what effect it has on your teammates, it costs you nothing to drop it on everybody's heads..
