I stated before that it needs to be an equipment module for it to be properly balance AND still be usable by all classes of suits.

I have 2.6 Mil SP now and have nothing in light suits or shotguns. I run with a militia suit and shotgun costing me 4,074 ISK. I got bored of trying for a medium or logi and have created this fit to see what the light class can do; very nearly ALL of my points are in the core skills and will continue before I go to any other tree.
Stating all of this, between running, hacking, drop uplinks intelligently placed, and the now and then kill, I have placed in the top 4 for WP in almost all the games I have played. My KDR waxes and wanes depending on how good of a team I am up against (this has everything to do with comms, I run around a tank or sleath kill someone and others start looking for me).
I know I don't have the SP invested that some of you do and I get "You have been scanned" A LOT. But I have some thoughts on a cloak. Don't do it. It would be easy mode for the people who cannot learn to never run AT an enemy in a light suit. For all the bitching of others, I still consistently get unaware kills and I run NO profile dampeners (but having 2 in the skill).
What I would like to see balanced is the scanners. I believe right off the bat a normal shouldn't be able to pick up a normal light suit, an advanced shouldn't pick up an advanced suit and a proto should NOT be able to pick up a proto light suit. And dampeners should be able to step up in between. They are going off every 12 secs.
ALSO, I SHOULD NEVER BE ABLE TO NOT SEE A TANK from ANYWHERE on the map. Its freaking huge, it should show up on my TACNET, on the MCC scanners, everywhere, I should be able to pull out a AV from the closest spawn point that I see cause I know where it IS. Fine, make it so only one person can drive AND shoot it, make it invincible, but make it clearly seen everywhere.
Lastly, if you do add a cloak, make it expensive as hell to fit, give a bonus to light suits to bring down the cpu/pg requirements so we are the only ones that can really use it, make it use your only equipment slot and make it so you have to activate it. And it only lasts 6 secs with a recharge of like 30 secs.
But most of all, I would like to see my light suit's passive scanner as good as a active scanner. We should see everything but another light suit out to 50 m. Maybe I just haven't gotten there yet and if I spec into Gallente scout suits, the bonus gives me just that, but holy balls man, how long do I have to play this game crippled, I haven't even got halfway through 1 tree and the tree is only halfway full, THE CHEAP HALF. Everything costs 410K now. I could be max level at almost any other MMO by now. It's too damn extreme of a climb.

Equipment slot.
Effectiveness of the cloak is determined by its quality, and by the scan profile of the user. This would make scouts inherently far superior as cloak users.

not sufficient. proto Logis then just use one, or maybe even two, of their FOUR low slots, to fit complex cpu modules. |

Agreed - it should be more like 400 CPU with a 95% reduction. Anyone trying to fit a cloak without being a scout suit should be properly gimped, not just slightly inconvenienced. It should be nigh on impossible and you should have to fit multiple complex CPU mods to fit it, unless you're a scout!

if I had an ADV or proto logi.... i'd still use it on logi over scout :) which is why I think it needs to be weapons slot

No.
Just no.
No cloaking, this isn't Harry Potter.
Use stealth and skill, not gimmicks: Grow some balls and run up behind your enemies in a scout suit and shoot them with enough accuracy that you they don't have time to turn around. Don't ask to be invisible, learn to play properly instead. Okay? |

Create active mod slots
Give logi's zero
give assaults 1 at proto
give heavies 1 at ADV, 2 at proto
give scouts 1 at std, 2 at adv, 3 at proto
active mods can have cloaking, speed boosts, jump boosts, armour/shield hardners, teleport (jump drives) ect in them.
Create 3rd fitting requirement - apart from CPU/PG, Active mods are run off of this.
Remove Equipment slots off Assault Suits and Scout suits in that case then |

It's EVE Online. And you know what EVE has? CLOAKING DEVICES. Kind of like the ones that have ALREADY BEEN CONFIRMED FOR THE FUTURE OF DUST.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but Harry Potter isn't the only made-up universe where invisibility is an option. |

With their track history of "balance" when it comes to new stuff I think a cloaking device is a TERRIBLE idea. |

3 second recalibrating time before weapons can be used and a 10 second cool down time. Skills change speed while deployed and cool down.
Scouts have a small bonus and special ops having better bonuses that change the recalibration time and cool down time.
No running while cloaked to keep it from being op except for maybe a covert class of suits thats role was a fast traveling cloak. I like this idea but rather than equipment I'd like to see it use a weapon slot so scouts could still carry drop uplinks, remotes, etc. I see losing a weapon to gain a clock would be an excellent balance. This is from a heavy not a scout user, but I've talked to enough scouts where losing a equipment slot to have a clock doesn't appeal to them, and I agree. |
