Caldari if you want a lt of enhanced/basic stuff, and Amarr if you wanna have high quality armor tanking. However, the Amarr Logi is so slow, it might be difficult to survive compared to the caldari.

Amarr Logi is alright. It's subpar for combat, despite what many anti-logi guys would have you believe, but a great defensive suit. Possibly one of the best lone-wolf suits in the game. However, if you can't stand being slow, it isn't the suit for you.

amarr easily, it does any fit you need. only thing it cant do is speed, but pfff hp>>>speed.

So far it seems caldari is the general consensus. For clarification, I plan to carry rep tool, needle, and whatever else the squad needs (hives, RE, scanner, etc.) I want to set up my fit solely around keeping me alive. No slayerlogi fit. Pure tank and support. |

If you want to put in serious logibro work, I'd say Minmatar or Gallente are both superior. Both have 4 equipment slots, Minmatar has better mobility and utility while the Gallente can equip better equipment at lower suit tiers. Only downside is Minmatar is a bit middle of the road since they're not exactly effective at any pure tanking style and Gallete can be painfully slow. Going with the choices you presented, I'd say it's up to your playstyle. Amarr offers better aggressive fittings with a wider weapon choice while Caldari has a pretty decent survivability.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

Caldari: Best shield logi, sucks when trying to use a bunch of prototype equipment/modules. Basic and ADV suits aren't that great though.

If I were you I'd at least skill Minmatar logi to std because of how useful it is for the cheap price cost. Not much survivability at proto, but very effective at almost anything logi that you want to do whether it be hacking, equipment, healing, or just supporting your allies from behind cover ducking away when you get shot at. I wouldn't recommend Gallente logi as the recent "fix" to armor plates makes them much slower than they were, but still very survivable at proto with the right fittings. You just don't have a lot of options when it comes to combat. Everyone is running armor killers which means that if you are spotted alone without support or without the right fitting you will go down easily.
Amarr is very slow but very durable. The bonus to armor repair isn't exactly that strong, and it is definitely more of a medium "okay at most things" suit. The addition of a sidearm is one of the best parts though as it allows you to run long-range weapons like the laser rifle while still having a SMG or flaylock to defend with if someone sneaks up on you.
Caldari has to be the most interesting. What it lacks in versatility and support it makes up for when going against the enemy. The large shield base means you regenerate your health in between conflicts, and the large amount of slots is nice for keeping your health up. The biggest downside is the inability to use equipment and tank at the same time. The STD and ADV suits are pretty bad too.

Final Answer:
Caldari if you use a short range weapons and be mobile, Amarr if you use long range ones and like to set up "camps". Although keep in mind that I did see a guy go 65/1 with a caldari suit and a rail rifle (not sure if Assault or Logi).

I trashed my proto Cal logi for a Min logi after the Cal logi nerf a while back and I've never looked back. I run all armor and two damage mods, I move just as fast as an assault with a little less stamina. If you really want survivability skill into Gal Logi and get Wiyrokomi Hives.
Edit: Oh and my Min hacking bonus is so amazing, I rarely get shot in the back. |
