Hey,
Ever since Dust was released from beta, I have heard constant claims of the game being broken and being compared to a sinking ship. I have always loved the game as most of you mercs do to, but 1.7 had some, major changes. Some people are haters and winy babies but lets look at why the game could be against them. 1st of all, there are haters out there that just complain because they can. I'd like to imagine that group is a small population but there are a lot of people crying broken. Other mercs who do play have found the game to have changed and not in their favor.
One way Dust could be broken is through exploits. Its been happening since closed beta, for example: mercs here about buffs to laser rifles or flaylock pistols and they are going to consider skilling it especially if its a brand new weapon. For me, the era of the Flock Gods was a good one because I had focused my sp there. Other mercs getting slayed by new weapons will see its power and see the tactics used against them and join or adapt. The amazing thing about Dust implementing new weapons is that mercs have to learn tactics to not only use the weapons but defend against them.
I think everybody here knows the range of the rail rifles about now because they have been slaughtering mercs who thought they can run around with no cover and were safe at a distance. This is year YC114 (thats like over 20000ad or something) and the weapons are meant to kill and are very good at it. Tactics have to be learned to counter the new weapons. The only exploit those who use CRs and RRs are abusing is that someone who has never used or seen one before will not know its weaknesses. You dont have a CR or RR? Then get closer and use cover! (if that's your role)
1.7 also brought major vehicle and AV changes. It used to be all to easy to fight off vehicles but with weaker AV nades and swarms and also faster vehicles, the tides have changed. Of course, as we all have seen from Dust history class, MERCS AND GOING TO GO WITH WHAT WORKS even if that means jumping on the bandwagon. The result? a million tanks per match. Im not happy about it either because I have given up AV on most of my fits and I am not skilled specifically in AV. Personally, I have overcome by being more aware of tanks on the battle field and I hide from them. Not the best solution but guess what. Tanks will subside eventually.
(rhetorical) What? I don't see that at all on the battlefield! ALL I SEE IS TANK TREDS!!!
You see, Eventually FootMercs will get pissed that they are dying to these monster tanks and will either a) learn to avoid them or b) learn to kill them. once that happens, Tank drivers will see a big cut in profit as they cant find any kills and lose 3 tanks a match. This will decrease the amount of tanks on the battlefield and only the strongest tanks will fair against the new anti-tank tactics.
I guess what I am trying to say is that CCP did not break the game. The game is not broken at all, blood-thirsty mercs have just learned to drive tanks (and drive em fast as ****!) but, all mercs evolve and adapt to change. Entropy is expected and prepared for. You will die, I have seen it. Just like in EvE, you learn when you fail, you learn when you die, you learn when you lose. So quit crying that you can COD mercs to death with an AR from your throne and figure how to use those points you invested into AR. bitches
keep 'em coming CCP
