It seems to me like the fire modes for the basic combat rifle and rail rifle are backwards.
The default 'burst' mode for the CR is pathetic. you have to keep feathering the trigger to get useful damage out of it. It should be full auto by default.
In contrast, having the regular rail rifle be full auto, seems to be wasteful. It seems like it would do better with some kind of burst mode. PARTICULARLY since the kick from the thing is "frickin huge".

Minmatar doesn't seem the type to use a low-RoF weapon, to be honest.
What's the difference between an immobile Minmatar ship and a pile of garbage?
The pile of garbage looks nicer.

I disagree. Three round burst being the standard model makes sense, check some IRL armies for examples.

you're comparing apples and oranges.
3 round burst is standard for an AR.
The combat rifle is essentially an SMG with longer range. A 5-round burst would be more reasonable
(For reference, breech SMG = 28-31damage per bullet. combat rifle starts at 32damage per bullet)
Also, your RL example comes from a situation, where a SINGLE BULLET, can be fatal.
Obviously, that's not the case in DUST. |

To clear up any confusion, when I said low RoF, I was referring to Breach variants, not Burst variants.
What's the difference between an immobile Minmatar ship and a pile of garbage?
