Heavy has no purpose other than carrying an RR or CR, or sitting inside a building all game praying someone is dumb enough to walk through the door without scanning him and tossing a cooked grenade first.
Heavies have no place in this game now other than forge gunning or attempting to mimic medium frames.

Heavies have no place in this game now other than forge gunning or attempting to mimic medium frames. or, you know, something actually helpful like defending an objective. pfft, that's silly, better hide in random building #153 and QQ because nobody will come through. You're welcome to theory craft about the usefulness of 1.7 heavies, but from simple observations, if you aren't terrible at the game you're going to overwhelm that heavy, because it's basically a weaker medium suit at this point (easier to hit, less mobility, gimped weaponry).
So, if a heavy isn't mimicking a medium frame by making the most out of long range light weapons, he is forced to sit inside cover near an objective the entire game, praying the enemy doesn't just let your team keep it / doesn't overhwelm it. The other alternative is to go everywhere with your LAV and hope blueberries don't steal it, I'll give you that much.
This is why heavies don't use HMGs anymore though, because rifles are better in pretty much every way, while offering us ways to actually play the game, instead of being a less useful remote explosive

If you can't tell why a heavy being scanned matters, then you don't know what it is to play a heavy.
Heavies are not just a defensive role in the exact same way that logis aren't just a healing role, and scouts aren't just a spotting role. Heavies simply don't dominate unless they're insanely good players, lucky, or in very tight quarters (which isn't always the case, since HMG is harder to aim in CQC where automatic weapons are easier, considering your larger hit box and lack of mobility)
Any good player will just hedge out a heavy, either forcing him to sit in his spot until you bring in backup, or making him come to engage you, and inevitably die.

Hate the game, not the player. Rifle heavies with a logi are >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> than HMG heavies with a logi.

Any good player will just hedge out a heavy, either forcing him to sit in his spot until you bring in backup, or making him come to engage you, and inevitably die. unless you left flanking routes open, it shouldn't matter. while it's true that suits can be "whatever they want", some are obviously better equipped to be a certain roles and as such should be that role more often than not. or you can be that shotgun heavy and be utterly useless. if you're pinned down in a spot, unless your squad is busy you should probably holler for some support, and if you follow the enemy out to their position then you're just being stupid. I just use a rifle, so I can take care of myself. It works better than my HMG in CQC, and it actually works at range.
For me the HMG is just three letters mushed together that means something, but I've long since forgotten. It also means free kills, when I come up against one.

They're using the direct counter to my armor tank and I wasn't aware enough to prevent such an attack. If scans were active, or I had squadies watching my back, it might have been prevented.
I think people need to just stick closer to cover and become more battlefield aware.
TL;DR: git gud you're not alone. i feel the same. this game is awesome. the community. not so much. i'm so sick of everyone crying OP! OP! when it's just that they are idiots. if i don't die in one second in a 300 ehp scout suit, then how the hell does a heavy die in one second with 1000+ hp? Hit boxes
You clearly haven't played a heavy much if you think heavies dying in around a second is uncommon. You basically HAVE to have remote reps on you as a heavy these days, basically everything out ranges and out damages you.

TranquilBiscuit ofVaLoR wrote:HMG =/= heavy. if i recall correctly, a heavy can fit the exact same weapons as any other suit.
hit boxes? has any heavy tried staying out from the open? you're not an invincible force that can 1v1 anybody, and you never will be. i've seen some good heavies, like God Hates Lags. he is actually one of the few heavies i respect.
just saying hit boxes doesn't suffice. you need to elaborate for that statement to mean anything. because i can kill a scout MUCH easier than i can kill a heavy hit box difference and all. What's an HMG? Seriously, do any heavies still use that thing?
I kill heavies right around the same amount of time it takes to kill a scout, in most cases. The time you take to line up the shot on a scout is spent just dumping bullets into the heavy, and it evens out. Heavies are just big targets that without remote reps on them die just about as fast as scouts do. Particularly now that new armor damaging rifles have been introduced that out range the HMG and AR, and just **** through your armor. SMGs were already just better HMGs that you can fit in a sidearm slot, now it seems like just about everything outclasses the only weapon that's specifically made for us to fight infantry with.
Basically this whole patch flipped everything around and entirely invalidated a lot of old builds, but that doesn't matter because we all should have seen it coming

Yet you sit here questioning how heavies die faster than you
