Health points have to matter in DUST 514. DUST is a MMOFPS.
The Healer
The Tank
The DPS
The Scout.
It's what we where sold on.
The Healer, Logistic's needed a massive bonus to fitting equipment so it was nothing to fit and an efficacy bonus, and to be limited severely on CPU and PG, so they are the best at support in the game and it's easy for anyone to get into a healer and the support role. "And hint hint attracts girls and that's what we want ;)" Right now they have tank related bonus's? massive slot count's and amazing quantities of CPU and PG.
The Tank, should be exactly that in infantry...it should have amazing damage absorbing potential, specially from ranged attacks having a massive resistance so a sniper can't just long range them in the head to death while they are supporting their squad..(sniper can shoot logi or DPS...) Heavies should have enough health points that Assault's think twice about even wasting the bullet's. and Heavies cant really chase down an Assault if they leave... letting them be the king of defending. The only weakness for a heavy should be shotgunners and numbers.
The DPS, Assault's barely have any Scan stuff for "Assaulting" and all their bonus's are based around tanking? Assault's need a 10% DMG natural suit buff, and be based mainly around medium range engagements and pushing objectives.
Scout's - CCP forgot what your for... You where supposed to be the speedy glass cannon's that where hard to hit and frustrated you and pushed you to be better in CQC. They where the ONLY major counter to heavies and ONLY are, when team mates let them be. Scout's where truly the "Fun" class of DUST and what made people play.. to see them in action or to have fun playing them. Scout's should have the hacking speed bonus... But Aim Assist will always make the Scout Under powered or a straffing OP god.
In Bubblegum shooters a Death don't matter as much, it just reflects on your score which is only so important for some. In DUST every death could potentially cost ISK and your asset's, health point's have to mean something in this aspect. If this game starts to require infantry specialized Mercenaries to team up to down heavies quick and efficiently, allowing for target priorities, and give Logistic's full time roles as true support on the DUST 514 battlefield, that's where this game will shine.
If we want to base our experience by a bunch of potentially quick 1vs1's that last seconds then there just simply is other options and no health point values that are even close to 1000... they are 100 and are usually finite with much longer time to kill. After players invest month's into their skills, items and knowledge and it end just as a game they just picked up? what truly is the point of all these suit's? just get rid of them give us all 100 health point's and it will be a better game.
It all comes down to the community at large being Very Very Very confused at what direction this game is going. And we would Love a mission statement from the Executive Producer.
Looks like a bunch of us are here for the long run regardless anyway. |
