Well, now CCP made it so the best counter to a tank is another one. See a Madrugar with a blaster ruining infantry? Have someone call in a Gunnlogi with a missile turret. See a Gunnlogi with a blaster ruining infantry? Call in a tank with a railgun to destroy it.
What's so hard about rolling with a competent tanker? I want someone to explain that to me. Why is that so hard? Because you HAVE to squad with a good tanker (sorry, my Gunny can pop 2 incompetent Madrugar pilots 2 v 1) to have a chance. In pubs, it's either full squad with people you know/qsynch or die to tanks, unless by chance you have better tank support, usually because both sides are randoms. What happens when you fight a tank squad with 5 Gunnlogis and Madrugars with different turrets to pop different things? You magically find 5 pilots to squad with? It's not like you have one pilot and everything is OK, especially if they aren't dedicated.

You don't need a tank to kill another tank...you just need a couple of A/V gunners who can work together. At the very least, they are going to run off and give you some breathing room for a bit. Next best thing to a kill in my book. Heck the best games are the ones with 3 or 4 enemy tanks running around. Not only is it a target rich environment but those teams rarely can hold on to their objectives. Easy wins, every time. That's funny, because I won 2 Amarr FW tanking easily, while the whole time ADV and PRO Swarms were firing at me. I pop a shield hardener, cycle them, 15-20 second down time after a full minute being invincible if I time them well. AV out damaging me because there's a full squad of proto AV? Pop both at once and drive away, come back a minute later when the infantry wipes them out or diverts them.
I have a 6.0 weekly K/D since 1.7. This includes deaths on the ground, which are half my deaths still. In a HAV, I probably have a 12.0 K/D, 20.0 in Ambush, easy, considering how often I go 20-25/0. My HAV only costs 270k; less than I make in a good Ambush. I actually make a fair bit of ISK tanking Ambushes and I don't even have that much SP in them! 9 out of 10 deaths are to other HAVs and Railgun installations hitting me before my hardeners go up.
