There's a lot of skill training in EVE, but eventually you get to the point where you just chuck random stuff in your queue because you don't care much. I've lost 2 ships. One because I jumped into a gatecamp (damn recons - three Lachesises and two Rapiers is just excessive...) and one because I was multiboxing with Dust.
