i saw mention of this in the notes, does this mean pilots get points now for transporting players?
also what type of turrets do dropship gunners now prefer and for what purpose/reason? |

Pilots don't get points for transporting players; they get points for kills a player gets that they recently transported and possibly other things that player does to get points will also give the pilot points but I'm not sure.
Small missiles seem to be the favorite at the moment. They're the most effective against infantry and vehicles.

I've gotten a few WP's for transport assist, but it's pocket change.
Few pilots are acting a transport not because we don't want to, but because the maps and game modes don't really benefit much from dropship transport.
The maps are fairly tight and drop uplinks and spawning on objectives make distance traveled negligible. Individual players can run or call in a cheap LAV for most transportation needs. Very few people will wait for the bus when they own a car.
The one exception is to gain a high perch, but as a pilot I've noticed the more teammates you have on buildings the more you lose so there isn't a great incentive to ferry folks up high.
There are a few cases where a dropship could put a coordinated assault team on an objective much better than they can fight their way in from the ground. The objective inside the Null Cannon silo comes to mind. I'd like to try that, but it's a tactic available only to coordinated squads so it probably won't ever become a big thing. |

Transport assists might as well not exist, the reward is too small, and so are the maps. No one bothers getting in the dropship because it's easier to walk or take an LAV.
Missiles are the only turret worth using really, the only reason I use the railgun on my Incubus is because I get the bonus, and it's halfway useful vs shield vehicles.
Other than that, I use a militia missile launcher to get 20+ kills a match

After transporting mercs over 100 Meters, the Pilot receives 15% of what ever those units make for at least a minute, if I remember correctly. |

Sometimes the transport points are worth it if the people who are being dropped are a full squad.
Missile turrets are useful for DS pilot and blaster turrets for gunners. |

As much as flying is my first love, I can't justify it as a full time occupation. I'm hoping to see that change, but it's going to require a change in the maps and game dynamics that I'm not expecting any time SOON(tm).
The quickest way to make piloting relevant would be to increase our support function. Hardeners would allow us to get in and resupply or rep HAVs and LAVs. That would help our armored friends on large maps with few supply depots, though the ease of swapping vehicles makes that somewhat questionable. |

yea i plan on using flying just to have some fun in pub matches. i'm not really interested in a ground gun game that's tainted by aim assist, but i'm really sick of GTAO's community, so I'm returning here to have some air to ground kills and talk with a somewhat less emo crowd.
how does aim assist work vs a dropship does AR lock onto the gunners?
i still can't believe they havent designed maps yet based on dropship transport but w/e
from my observation i recieve way less AV and it seems my survivability chance has gone up. the fitting system seems way dumbed down tho which isn't that big of a deal i suppose |

Didn't vehicles just get credit for scans? Drop a squad off and hover overhead with your scanner on and you should gain quite a few WPs....at least that is my outside view of things anyway.
Every ADS I see uses missiles and I personally prefer using missiles as a gunner as well.
