Hi. Been playing DUST 514 for a couple of weeks & for the most part am liking it. I would like some recommendations from vets/players who are better at FPS than I (which is I'm sure, many). I wouldn't say I'm terrible by any means, but I am certainly not as skilled as the players who can kill me from so far out that I can hardly see them.
Plus, I really am not very good at using zoom & trying to stay oriented so I don't play as a sniper.
Anyway, enough of my faults as a player; I still enjoy it, and I've definitely had more than a few times when I've played well (heh, pre 1.7 -- since I die a lot more than before. I was actually feeling as if I was getting better but now?...)
So, I've been experimenting with settings & have tried everything between 65-100. I kinda settled on 80, but even that seems off.
Another ? : is it even worthwhile to get used to anything less than 100? (I've read a lot of forums/posts & have heard that @100 your character turns/strafes better, etc...).
Thanks! |

I have my settings at 45 because I am a long range fighter, and because I use the controller, I can't aim well, and the controls aren't as good and accurate as battlefield 3. ADS needs to be 10-20 for accurate rail sniping.

Hip fire
x: 65-75 ... Allows you to track all targets effectively without being too "twitchy" y: 50 ... Moderate setting good for up and down axis
ADS
x: 50 ... Allows you to turn fast enough to track all non-speed tanked fittings at close range if they try to get around you, and gives satisfactory precision of aim to hit distant targets accurately y: 50 ... Moderate setting good for up and down axis

Under the old system, I was at X-20/Y-10 Minimal dead zone (Boycotting 1.7, don't know about new settings)
Sensitivity does not mean speed. All speeds (turn, strafe, ADS are all determined by your Dropsuit/weapon)

Not speed? Stupid question then, WHAT does it control? I'm not messing, I don't know.

Sensitivity determines your turn (rotation) rate within the min/max rates determined by your Suit Frame Type Different Frames have different Min/Max turn (rotation) rates, so a sensitivity of 75 would be 75% of the max turn (rotation) rate of the Frame it has no effect on strafe/run speed
So, would it be right to presume that lower sensitivity settings would be a drawback when one has become more experienced; meaning it would probably be better to go with high sensitivity & deal with it until one can get used to it?-- rather than starting out low & trying to raise it later?
Or am I reading to much into rotation speed? |

Lower sensitivity is good against strafers, flanking, or distance
Higher sensitivity is better for head on matches and multi hostile encounters.

This is ideal for me, as sniping midfield and mass drivering are all possiburu.
However forging is a slight problem, wish i could set ADS sensitivity to the forge.
Under 28db
Officially nerfproof (predicting CR nerf February '14)
The only bad AV is ones not using Plc.

I kept it low because I play with "heavy" thumbs. I get more stability at lower settings, where at anything over 50 it feels "floppy".
It could also have something to do with the fact that I often use Light, Medium, and Heavy frames in every match. The lower sensitivity keeps the differences in their natural speeds somewhat manageable.
