I'm not talking about how they look, I mean how they work.
From what I understand, minmatar are about weaponizing speed, and sacrificing health for it. With that, minmatar weapons are either short-mid range with very high RoF and DPS (HMGs) or the longest range with very high alpha and very low RoF and low DPS (no good examples yet)
So where does the combat rifle fall in?
Currently, combat rifles are short-mid range, but with high alpha damage and low DPS for an assault rifle. This just doesn't work. Especially considering the relative squishiness of minmatar dropsuits.
I suggest that, to be more minmatar, combat rifles have the fully automatic variant as the basic variant, while at advanced level, longer range (as in, rail rifle range) burst variants come in.

On a side note, burst HMGs are pretty damn useless as well

Eh? CR does a ridiculous amount of DPS. I've found myself to be far more effective with a breach AR

Cyrius Li-Moody wrote:CR is pretty ridiculous. It's made to complement the suits which is for going back and forth between mid to short range. With the combat rifle you can kite slow gallente ARs enemies out of their range while continuously moving and engange Amarr in CQC (side arm bonuses) with an SMG, if you're silly a flaylock, or if you're a scout your knives.
You gotta look at that big picture. :D Kiting doesn't work in dust, everything damages too quickly for that.

I mean that in the sense of moving cover to cover quickly at a distance and staying out of their optimal and in yours. Of course if you stand out in the open you're going to get your head shot off by anyone. Also it does work better in theory because the scrambler rifle is ridiculous in CQC if the person doesn't suck with it. The difference in optimals is so small it may as well be nonexistent.

Orion Vahid wrote:"Low DPS" It outdamages the ******* HMG. How much DPS is considered enough? no wonder HMG is in the sad state that it is in today lol. Unless it got nerfed without me knowing, the HMG's accuracy must be messed up this build
