Five shots and my dead what?
More seriously though, yes, this is what everyone means when we say "TTK is too short". TTK is Time To Kill. It doesn't take long enough to kill another player. One of the great things about the game before 1.7 was always that you had enough time to figure out WHY you died in most situations.
Before, long TTK was frustrating, because a large part of the reason for it to be long was the fact that your shots weren't registering. Now, that same TTK with improved hit detection would actually be ideal. You're landing hits, but not instantly obliterating the victim of your fire. It should take a few hits from most weapons to kill. Shotguns and Sniper Rifles should still have one-shot potential in many situations, because that's their role, but the main frontline Rifles, and some of the other rapid-fire weapons, need to be toned down a little, so players can actually get hit and still have a chance to make it to cover or start returning fire before melting. |

Ironically the people who did the most whining, arn't here anymore.
Just sayin'. Remember the dev quote about how long TTK is no fun IF IT'S FOR THE WRONG REASONS?
Keep that last part in mind, it's rather important.

I liked the longer TTKs, felt like you were a futuristic merc in a high tech battlesuit. I liked the longer TTKs.
I didn't like the times when bullets hit and dealt no damage, or didn't even appear to hit when my Shotgun was point-blank practically attached to my target's face. I didn't like throwing a grenade and watching it explode with 2 - 3 people in the blast radius who took no damage. I didn't like emptying an entire AR mag into someone and only landing 3 bullets. I didn't like having to empty literally a full SMG mag then reload to get the last couple of hits that it needs to kill someone because even though I watched every bullet impact on the target, only about 10% of "hits" actually registered as damage.
Taking a decent amount of time to land a kill is good when it's for the right reasons. Bad hit detection isn't the right reasons. With hit detection fixed, toning down some of the harder-hitting full-auto weapons should allow for a good TTK instead of the previous long but not good TTK or the current too-short TTK. |
