New Player Experience
All balance issues aside, this one thing is the problem with tanks as they are right now. As it stands, a new player is forced to do one of two things to handle massive tank spam, which they will assume is normal given that they're new players. They can either call down their own militia tank, ignoring all aspects of infantry play, and learn the game from the perspective of tank driving only. Or, they can get mercilessly curb stomped over and over by garbage tanks because they have no way to fight it.
When 0 SP militia tanks require 3-4 synchronized advanced or prototype AV to take down, how exactly do you expect new players to progress in this game as infantry?
The message of 1.7 is become a tanker or die trying, because your efforts are meaningless otherwise.
I'm getting tired of 20+ million SP players sitting there saying how easy it is to kill tanks, when the vast majority of players probably don't even have 5 million SP yet, and any new players who are unfortunate enough to join right now have under 1 million SP.

I wouldn't call militia tank scrubs tankers but yea. Militia tanks need a price raise and/or a nerf. They are just too effective for their price right now...

Nerf militia vehicles and modules, and increase the SP gap slightly. That should stop all the QQ'ing going around in the forums.

I agree. Militia HAVs should not be this powerful, Militia Modules especially since they are the same as all the other modules just with larger cooldowns. HAVs are cheap only being 59k to 97k standard and are borderline OP.
I would say just catch the pilots off guard and hit them with tactics but like you said, majority of the playerbase does not have this kind of luxury, most notably the new players. The vets however, have all the SP in the world to counter vehicles thoroughly if they want. |

I'm speaking strictly from what I watch others do, frantically chasing garbage tanks in the hopes to lay enough DPS on it before it disappears around the bend.

And as stated in my OP, this is about new players, who lack any of the tools required to hurt even the weakest of tanks, aside from calling in their own tank. More like how they lack the knowledge on how to take out tanks. But that's a problem with not having actual tutorials. EVE has great tutorials that can teach just about everything in the game and I think the DUST dev team should take it as a good example.

Honestly, if i was a smart new player who had heard all the cool things about New Eden and had some inkling of what DUST might became and was really liked that idea and decided i wanted to get in on the ground floor and went ahead and d/l the client....
I would quit the game after maybe 4-5 matches with the current tank spam. And i don't quit easy.
I want to see this kind of testing done in a separate game mode.
I support SP rollover.

i forget that new players are joining all the time .
if it was my game i would introduce tank free modes. and i would introduce a simulator .
so i could be in a room with a tank of my specs and test my weapons on it .
it don't have to be pretty it can be a 20 by 20 foot room. just let me see if my forge gun or nades have any effect on it . same for suits and armor .
but mostly tank free games . or maybe even a PvE option to help boost stats without constant tank stomping
but mostly just tank free options .

...i run a dua forge with toxin smg on mlt heavy ina full mlt tank and easily break 2 k wp...they can go push they're sob story somewhere else at best not having allot of sp means you cannot be as versatile but all suits and weapons have very relevant ehp and dmg..personal fps skills can account for lack of proto gear...
personally i just assume most of the blue dots in dust have never played any video game before as the average 12 year old can do much better hell my lil cousin is 9 and he can pull non neg scores 75% of the time |

I got kinda bored with the rest of your comment because it's basically just you stroking your E-peen saying you've done X Y Z without any actual proof and it isn't even relevant
Furthermore you;ve missed the actual points expressed in this thread ... AV isn't effective enough against vehicles ... how can proto AV be so awful against STD/Militia Tanks ? What about when we get proto Vehicles .. what then ? 12 ppl to take out 1 tank ? what if the enemy has 5 tanks on the field ?
Why have AV in the game if a Tank is the only thing you can use to take out another Tank ? This Isn't world of Tanks ... Infantry should be able to take out Tanks just as Tanks can take out Infantry ... |
