I'll post this question in the Rookie Training Grounds to begin with as I'm still uncertain of how things are supposed to work.
I'm trying to buy the skill Dropsuit Command from the skill tree. It says "6,220 SP" underneath and I assume that is the cost in Skill Points. When I choose Purchase I get a message saying, amongst other things, "Pay in: ISK" and "Quantity: 1". There are arrows to the left and right of the "1" indicating that I ought to be able to increase that number. There are no arrows around "ISK".
Shouldn't I be able to choose to purchase the skill with my Skill Points and not my ISK? Because I can't. Nor can I increase the quantity. I've tried all the buttons and sticks on the controller except for the X-button as that would complete the purchase.
I have 6,698,175 "unallocated" SP and 1,767,625 ISK. Is this a bug or are the Skill Points merely there as a secondary requirement? In practice, you "pay" with BOTH SP and ISK?

You have to buy the skill book with ISK before you can train in that skill using skill points.
It makes more sense in EVE where you have to travel to certain stations to buy the skill book. In DUST where you can buy the skill book in the skill trainer it is easier, but not as easy to understand what is happening. |

Thank you for the reply. I've spent a lot of time searching for the answer and I couldn't find it anywhere. This game is a bit more complex than most any other shooter I've come across and I wish the game had explained itself better. I also wish it had some sort of "virtual training ground" where you could try out the basic controls and such. A live multiplayer match isn't the best place for calibrating controls, learning about vehicles and all that.

CCP has promised us one, but no word on when. |
