I wish I could take back the rage. It's not healthy and quite frankly it clouds my mind when I try to write anything now since my preferred genre is Sci-Fi. The rage is what gives me the horrible writer's block. I keep trying to hold out for the potential of the game, the idea that eventually the lore will mean something to Dust players. My problem isn't necessarily the mechanics of the game but the promise of a lore rich environment left void of any semblance of backstory for the new player or even for the players that have been here for a long time.
I want my Minmatar Dropship to zip my troops around the map in laying down humongous feels of fire with autocannons and turret mounted grenade launchers. I want enclosed trenches, massive battles with open fields that it'd be suicidal to try running across. I want several levels of a structure to assault. I mean the planetary structures in EVE in their description (I only know from the EVE Wiki) says they are 1km3. I want to attack things like those if not those themselves like the long epic matches that used to be in 128v128 MAG except here with orbitals, to look up in the sky and watch lay waste to the battlefield and look up to see flashes of light in the night sky as Capsuleers blow the living **** out of each other. I want another Shiigeru. I want to be afraid of what I have to deal with when I see an Ammarian tank rolling up in the distance only to have a friendly drop a Matari nuke from orbit on it only to be replaced by two more tanks we didn't see. I want CCP to stop messing around and make ISK payouts substantial enough to be worth it because they seem to forget we die a lot more than pod pilots. I want tough fights in FW I want the blueberries on the Ammar side gone so I can fight against tough teams. I want them gone on the Minmatar side so we can have organised teams throwing everything at each other for a reward that should be worth it. I want it to not lag in those matches so that when I shoot my Combat rifle bullets actually fire and I don't look to see that my mag is still full after shooting enough rounds that should have actually empty the magazine. I want to nuke a capsuleer's ship from the ground or better yet nuke it from the inside. I want to walk into a room and see a warehouse stacked with crates of my assets. I want to fight Guristas, Blood Raiders, Sansha's Nation and whoever I forgot. I want this game to look as addicting as it feels right now and I want to be able to convince other people to play this game too by showing them these awesome things.
Do I have high expectations? Yes. I didn't know what EVE was until I watched that Sony E3 Press Conference and when I looked at what it was I was hooked; I knew I wanted to play this game. CCP set the bar high and while I understand that they are trying to deliver, and trust me I give them credit for it, I think a lot of us are still waiting for what we expected from those older devblogs CCP. You can't set the bar high and then not look to jump over it yourself CCP. I'm not going to demand like most do CCP but I ask you to please start releasing content we should have had from the start. Give us our dropsuits and vehicles and give us something more enticing lore wise to make new players say I want to find out more.
Sorry if it seems like a rant but you don't get this from other games. You don't get this from CoD or Battlefield or whatever the hell else is out there but at least out there my bullets hit people.
