I got a quick story I thought I would share for the lolz. I'll try to keep to short, simple and to the point. The merc and his Corp shall remain nameless. So let's begin....
One of my friends started playing Dust. He made his merc awhile ago so say about 3.5 million passive SP. No clue what gun he wants to use or what build. I decided to find him a gun first. "Go ahead and put only SPs in what you need to get "Hand Held Wepon Upgrades" to lvl 5". My logic which I explained, You can stick to the MIL and STD variants, slap a few complex damage mods on and have a good feel for how the weapon would perform at Proto with Prof 5. You won't be wasting SPs and you won't be going broke.
"What do I do after I find a gun?", he asks. Well I would decided on your playstyle. How you are going to use your weapons, if you want to play a more supportive role, and build a suit around that. Just focus on finding a gun for now. I'll go more indepth and help you out building a suit later in the week. Save your SP just put enough in to get whatever gun you want to try to Operation lvl1. Now go graduate from the academy and I'll see you in a few days.
How I wish I didn't let him leave the nest. Should have kept him closer uder my wing. I figured the worst that could happen, he would waste some SP in Nova Knifes, the HMG, or the PLC. How wrong I was! He found a squad. One of the squad members decided to give him advice and help him. His advice, I was a dumb ass. The reason: "Hand Held Weapon Upgrades" only increase sidearm damage.......*facepalm* Smh. At least my friend didn't pour SP into dropsuits like the noob was telling him was the best thing to do. |
