at the moment you can spend hundreds of thousands if not millions of isk just to get a few hundred lp worth a few thousand isk if you win. this reason has made alot of people use militia gear for fw or just not bother. its actually quite fun but the incentive is poor.
so with that in mind i believe there should be incentive to go all out in a fight. i.e field the best you have.
so we have the win lp. this is not based on your contribution in anyway. its just a flat number based on your standings and booster. loot is based on what is lost. as stated above you could be in full proto and the rest of the team in militia gear yet they get the same payout and the same chance at loot rewards.
my suggestion is that they add a bonus lp pool where the faction recognises your contribution even though you didnt win. this bonus is based on what percentage of the total losses you sustained for that win/loss. lets say 100lp per person in a pool. if you had 50% of the total losses then you would earned 50% of the total pool for your squad etc. afk/team killers lose their rights to the bonus but there lp is still in the pool.
the reward here for risking more is a chance at a better reward potentially to replace your losses.
obviously some caps and restrictions should be added to prevent abuse but it would certainly make me use better gear and maybe actually contribute more to the outcome

FW is about winning and holding districts more than anything else. Why should the empires care what kind of gear you use as long as you win, and why should you risk your best suits if you can win with less? If I was an empire executive in New Eden, I'd be more impressed with a squad or team that gets the job done using cheaper gear... and more disappointed by a team that lost despite going all proto.

this is precisely the point. at the moment most people are just luck'ing their way to the top in mlt gear. most fights in FW are 1 sided because 1 side goes all out and the other doesn't. with no reward for losing as soon as it looks like the the fight is going to the enemy there is no point spawning again because there is no reward at all for a loss. this is the issue. why waste good gear or any gear at all and lose.
also surely the empress wants you to win every fight and expects you to do and use everything you have to do so. can you see the empress sending in a bunch of slaves with sticks with the offer of a reward over sending in highly skilled mercs with the most advanced gear on the market for the same reward. if the only incentive is a win then any loss is likely to prevent most people from playing fw. its become common now for people to spawn in in free suits not adding anything to your winning loot. surely its best all round if the rewards match the effort

Your example makes sense, but there is always context. As an executive hiring mercs, you have to offer them something that reflects the work they will do for you. There is a give and take to this relationship. We are offering our services. We are not employed by our factions.
If I were a New Eden Exec. and I saw a battle coming up with tons of proto-gear opposition, I would hire my own proto squad. And the only way I would ever get that squad to agree to risk all of their hard earned assets was if I could offer them some huge rewards if they won, and (relatively) reasonable rewards for risking the gear.
