Honestly, I think the speed if anything will be nerfed. Everything else honestly feels spot on now.
Honestly I think two hardeners and a single heavy rep is probably the most flexible fit, and a good one to practice on.

Another kinda fun fit is just 3 heavy militia armor reps. Very susceptible to burst damage from rails and missiles, but its very difficult kill with sustained dps.

Oh.... yeah..... nevermind I guess.
But I guess I'd wait before speccing into it. 1. Changes are certianly coming 2. Experiment with militia first to get the feel for it (modules, esape route planning, timing, etc.) 3. Don't put SP into a role you don't know might be good for you. Don't force yourself to be something you're not. 4. Reach out to vet tankers: The legend345, Benjamin Cisko, True Adamance, Pegusis Prime, all helped me and I'm grateful. There are others too.
I've only been tanking since closed beta, so I'm not a vet I just hate using them in pub matches cause its boring and I enjoy infantry too much for matches that dont matter.

Tanking is stupidly fun now, and I'm not talking about infantry, I'm talking about Tank vs Tank combat. It's fast, exciting, and amazing when you have a group of tanks fighting each other. They're cheap enough now where people are not afraid to actually use them (myself included) and I love nothing more than killing other tanks.

Flix Keptick wrote:Good fits: Madrugar (I don't actually use one but in theory this fit is really good), the more passive skills the better it gets 1 Heavy rep 2 Hardeners
Gunlogi: 1 heavy extender 2 hardeners
or
1 heavy booster 2 hardeners This fit has the advantage of having more ehp due to the booster giving back more HP than an extender adds but is really vulnerable when the booster is in cooldown (you should honestly learn when to gtfo before using this fit)
Sadly there are not many other general purpose viable options >_> fitting is so boring now...
Oh! And fit a scanner if you can, its omnidirectional and gives Intel Assist points now

Yeah that burst damage is nasty, its a cool balance though, I like it. Its actually exactly like the new Rapid Missile Launchers they added in EVE, they unload all of their missiles in a very short time giving them the highest burst DPS, but long reload speed gives them very low sustained dps. At least the ones in Dust only take 10 seconds to reload instead of the 40 they do in EVE.
Makes me glad when I see more concepts being shared between Dust and EVE.

Simply put, two hardeners will have better long term resistance to burst damage, two reppers will have better ability to tank against sustained damage. I like the dual hardener fit because if **** really goes down I can turn both of them on at once for massive resistance.
