I haven't seen one of these yet so I suppose i'll start one. As we all know the Rail rifle and Combat Rifle have just been released and EVERYONE is using them. I am here to ask you guys which gun you prefer and why? I prefer the Rail Rifle to the Combat Rifle because I prefer the range the Rail Rifle offers compared to the Combat Rifle. The Combat Rifle also spits out all of its ammo in a very short amount of time; where as with the Rail Rifle you have lots of ammo o spare after each kill. |

I like them both as well, but the CR feels just right to me. Both work well so neither is op.

Rail Rifle, as the range is just bliss if on a fast Minnie Assault, I'm able to dictate most engagements and I usually come out on top due to that.
Also it looks and sounds sexy.

I have since used one my my alts and used the Ishukone Assault RR -- I'm in LOVE.
I'll play with the higher level CR this weekend, but for now I prefer the RR. |

Lets get a little more why you like these guns in here! I wanna know if you think on gun is too circumstantial or if the other is OP and why!? Just give me some information on how you think the gun feels and if its good or bad and what are the pros and cons. Those are just some examples, not rules to follow. |

Both weapons seem to be very good due to low bonuses/penalties. Bonuses against armor is also good due to the current meta :)
Havent decided if im gonna spec into rail yet. ScR is very good still as ive understood!

And the Rail rifle feels solid and heavy, unlike a lot of guns in this it don't feel like it's made of plastic |

Yours truly will probably be speccing into the RR because of the:
GÇó Wuuuuheeee and the TUD, TUD, TUD, sound it makes, which pleases me. GÇó The range gives me a little more time to line up my shots. GÇó I'm happy with the clip size. GÇó the lights are pretty. GÇó I like how the scope is designed GÇó I tend to die less with it, which is nice.

Combat Rifle.
It's hipfire is godsend, and it makes for a very versatile Short-Mid range weapon. It synergizes VERY well with a Minmatar Assault suit, as the SMG perfectly compliments the weapon.
It's hard to use it at ranges farther than 60m, but that's mainly due to it's horrible scope. The target is so tiny at that distance

I have since skilled up one my my alts with RR to Level 4 and used the Ishukone Assault RR -- I'm in LOVE. Very close in terms of feel to my weapon of choice (AR) but with a great deal more punch at distance and does more damage against those pesky armor tankers (I'm a Caldari in-game). Hipfire up close also seems to be quite good.
I'll play with the higher level CR this weekend, but for now I prefer the RR. You are not a Caldari. You are gallente.

I'll play with the higher level CR this weekend, but for now I prefer the RR. tl;dr RR if AA, ACR for recon
Bought aurum versions of the ACR and ARR. Didn't care for the RR over my laser for that range, but loving the ACR for the playstyle that falls between cqc sg and support lsr. It burns ammo FAST though if you aren't judicious with it. One clip was burning heavies down to quarter armor...so bring an SMG for mop up. Also ACR has a rather phallic iron sign much akin to eastern European assault rifles...not a fan of the RR scope. Using the RR I caught myself getting anxious waiting for it to put an opponent down and hipfire seemed unreliable with only level 1. Also, no sharpshooter for RR.
With that being said, most AR users seem to prefer the aded oompf of the RR, as that is what is dropping me most often now...still longer ttk than AR though.
Today is the sort of day where the sun only comes up to humiliate you.

I'm all in on the Rail Rifle.
Operation V, Proficiency IV, Optimization III, Reload II, Ammo III...yeah, I was saving up for a while.
The rail works very well with my playstyles and pairs pretty good with my CalAssault. I stay at range and work flanks continuously, this allows me to control the environment a bit more and take advantage of shield tanking support modules for the first time. I do routinely switch to my SMG for closer work or when things are getting hectic with multiple targets....on that note, I want my Caldari MagSec SMG (a lot).
I have only given the CR a brief spin and found that I liked it quite a bit. As noted earlier int he thread it's a great complementary piece to the SMG. I could have dropped the saved SP into the CR and I would have been pretty happy but I prefer the striking power and aesthetics of the rail.
Ultimately I chose the RR since I had choosen to go full Caldari in my setups. Besides, might be some nice perks or bonuses down the line if your have synergy in your fittings or perhaps a weapon centric bonus for Caldari assault suits (the other 3 races have them). |

The assault CR has a much higher rate of fire with little kick. The assault RR has kick and can drift on you. Also the assault RR is hard to follow other players if they are strafing. I am one of those players who prefer iron sights over a scope when it comes to AR. I love the damage output of the RR, but the kick throws me off when i am aiming. It might be my settings as to why I am having a hard time adjusting to the RR. Using the scope version of RR is difficult for I am use to a sniper rifle and I like to be a good distance away when I am firing, unfortunately it cause's me to not do as much damage. Then of course I cant do much damage to the red even though I am hitting them, but they can turn and hit me with a lot more damage and I have my RR at proficiency lvl 3. The downside of the CR to me is it needs a larger magazine and both weapons need more ammo in reserve.
I just have to give it time and get better is all or maybe I am not meant to use the RR and should just stick with the CR????
