The fact that you spawn invisible, and can fire for a second before the invisibility wears off (the game doesn't react fast enough) means you get insta popped often for approaching an uplink :\
Shield regeneration bonus for Gallente Assault is about as useful as Sharpshooter for Nova Knives.

actually if there IS a invisible guy waiting to pop you when you approach the uplink, just aim your reticule above the uplink (not on the uplink) and if it turns red then there's a guy who just spawned in. great way to take out those sneaky guys who takes advantage of the invisibility.

See, that's where you're wrong your highness.
Because when I spawn in on uplinks, I'm able to take damage before my screen changes from black... Its a glitch or lag.
Because if someone shoots you while at supply depot, while you're changing fits you will receive 0 damage for the 2 seconds it takes to switch over. Because the game is technically resetting you just like an uplink spawn would be doing.
Either way, it was just always a cover up to the real problem (like everything CCP does because they don't know how to fix anything) of having poor spawn logic.
If CCP didn't even know what they were doing when they built it, how are they going to know when it's broken and how to fix it? They're inbred. |

I'm just trying to pop the uplink. They're small and have 400 HP.

It's hit or miss. Sometimes you get a few seconds of invulnerability. Other times you spawn in and the enemy has you at half armor before you can see.

Uplinks should be risky to use, since they basically provide power projection at any point of the map.

Perhaps
But if thats the case then it should be a longer wait to spawn rather than a traditional 10 secs

However, based on the lore of how they work, we should be able to defend ourselves the moment we spawn in on them. It's not like we have to wait for our eyes to finish transferring after the rest of our body makes it.
If CCP could make it so that your screen showed the game the moment you spawn in, then no invisibility or invulnerability would be fine. Until they make the game run that well, there needs to be some mechanism to give us time for our screens to display correctly.
However, the uplinks invisibility/invulnerability does need to be modified so it is more stable and serves its purpose without giving an advantage.
As for the power projection bit, the invisibility/invincibility isn't the source of that. All spawn times are too low. Nearly all uplinks, CRUs, and objective spawns seem to give spawn times between 3 and 6 seconds. There is far too little down time for dying at the moment.

Should be a second timer before you can fire. really? Yes really. I just couldn't remove an uplink that was in a position that required you to be in close range.
I killed the guys around it, go for it, and get shotgunned by someone invisible.
Try again, same result.
Try a grenade, but the uplink is in a position where the grenade didn't do damage.

I find them quite buggy sometimes get shot down before I even get out of my black screen I don't know why it is but there is something strange about the spawnprotection mechanic. And you should of course be visible as soon as you move or shoot. |
