Why are tanks roughly 100k ISK while dropships are over 300k ISK? Doesn't seem right at all???
To think that a Tank hull cost just as much as a proto (prof 1) weapon (roughly 70k?). But has the staying power to wipe out an entire team and costs as much as a proto weapon?! Seems a bit off. Someone explain the logic to me, please. It's not obvious and I admit my intuition here is lacking.
Surely a TANK costs more to manufacture than a gun... SURELY this is the case...

You clearly haven't been playing very long. LOL. All the AV has been significantly nerfed, from grenades to swarms to forge guns. All tanks have been given acceleration boost and can instantly get in and out of a situation as if they were a scout with 4 kin cats on them... And, to add on top of that there are only 3 weapons that damage them. Swarms, AV Nades, and Forge Guns...
So "Clearly" they have staying power.

I didn't mean to be "real-world" centric here. What I meant is that it should cost MORE simply due to resources to make the two. One requires 2 tons of raw materials (metals) to put together. The other requires 5 pounds of raw materials to make. One must cost more than the other by simple deduction of raw material costs.
Now that I think about it there are some t2 turrets in eve that cost 10x's more than some ships... I'll just deal with it.

As tanks are now , they need to cost at least 5+ mill ISK in order for them to be balanced with their preformance.

Its just a hull, if i went into battle with a hull i would be destroyed by AV nades, hulls are weak, anyway, it takes millions (7-9 million sp) to make that hull preform and still its not invulnerable, its easy to take down when resistance is off

Tanks with proto turrets and the best modules will go for a little under 400k. It still hurts to lose a high end tank, it's just less of a handicap than it was. Bad money managers/crap pilots are still begging their Looking for squad teammates for isk so they can get a tank. |
