I've found myself returning to afk whenever I realise my blues are useless in FW.
Even though I mostly run fits less than 20k isk, there is just no reason to fight when the battle has been decided. It's a waste of resources.
Surely there is some way to reward our efforts without sacrificing the incentive to win? At least in pubstomps I can leeroy into protobears with cheap fits.

sometimes I will just guard the closest point to my redline.
that way I feel like i'm doing something...reds will only come to the point in ones and twos, and I can handle that easy so I get a few kills...then if all the other points turn red, I have time to get out to a safe distance and redline snipe...
yeah, i'm that guy...
I don't care who wins...I'm just here for the killin'...

How do you know when it's decided?
I refer you to my research that was published a while ago that you can use to know whether you can turn a match around.
I was in a match last night that was almost a redline against my team in the first 5 minutes, and in a matter of 2 minutes after that we had all 4 of 5 objectives hacked because the whole team was marching myopically for our red line with no regard for defending the remaining points.
The more contested points are, the longer a match will drag on. A highly contested match will favor teams with orbital support. |

Not being a quitter generally helps, and wanting to stay competitive and not be the kid on the playground who quits all the time when it's not going in his favor is also a big factor.
A little pride goes a long way, stick it out and try to kill as many bastards as you can. Your bad team is one thing, but you're not fighting them, you're fighting a good team and you should always want to kick their ass and return the favor.
Try not relying on your bad team when you know it's bad. |

Having two full squads of vets earning 30 kills before the points have even been captured is usually a giveaway.

I'm not complaining about losing. I'm complaining that I don't get anything for being the top of the losing team. I'll throw KDR to the wind if I can turn a phyrric victory, but I don't get any kind of incentive to do so.

Had a match where 8 blues gave up the second it got hard, its win or lose period and some don't seem to understand that, for example the people who just run around farming wp which doesn't mean sht in fw and neither does coming first place.
Its win or lose.

True, I see where you're coming from. ISK is the only motivation and after a while who even cares if you're going to get paid the same at the end of the day. |

Isn't your salvage determined by your kills in FW. If you have cheap suits that can still kill a proto then you would get some loot and lol.

I've had a few games like this. I chose cheaper suits to run out and get droplinks down to get the team reengaged but everyone was pretty much set in hiding for the rest of the match. Winning 1st in stats with only 400-700wp because you're the only one doing anything is really disheartening. I have no incentive to keep running out and losing both suits and uplinks if the team is full of sore losers.
However it is hilarious sad to end up in a skrimish with 3 vs 20+. Only happened a few times to me, but kudos to those that stuck it out with me (unless they didn't notice) and just try for some kills.

I usually go forward just to fight, the more suits and vehicles they lose the more they have to replace when the battles over.

I've personally been the proponent who resulted in the match changing over. Reds were all proto duvolling us, i drove an Lav through the mountains and popped an uplink to see the whole team spawn there, we hacked the point and held it with 50%armor. Enemies had no chance.

I'm always saddened by the state of Amarr FW, we have amazing players, but a disproportionate amount of mindless scrubs who abandon key objectives mid game, or late game, who fail to cover allies, who run solo and in MLT gear.....
I will throw myself at objectives that are being assaulted by enemies if it prevents the hack or capture for even 2 mins, why does no one else do this? Do they not want to win?

Yeah its really annoying and really annoying to face people that I know are fighting the good fight but half their team is doing sweet fa.
