Hello! I sat down to a POST 1.7 match last night, and was astonished... (Laughing like Crazy, but still astonished). I played three or four matches, and they were all kind of surreal. I could walk across the entire maps without a single sniper attack, or even a single run-in with an enemy merc.
The battlefield was quiet,...except for... an HAV "zipping" past every 35 seconds or so, with no infantry escorting him, and no visible secondary turrets on him---he was scrambling down the road completely unprotected---with the NEW SPEED as his only weapon.
When I got to the OTHER side of the map (NEVER before could you parade straight over the ENTIRE map without being challenged by SOMEBODY), I saw the reason for all the quiet: THERE WERE FIVE blue HAVs racing around like hornets, with poor red dots hunkered down in the corner of the map (like the old wagon trains against the Indians). It was HORRIFYING (and it was hilarious at the same time, because it meant my team was winning )...
--There were NO LAV's in my matches....the HAV can now be the new improved murder taxi! --When an AV takes a shot at the HAV, he simply zips away with better success than my dropship...we can strap some seats on the back of the HAV and it can be a "Dragship" infantry transport. --The HAVs I saw were mostly loners....the excess speed means they no longer NEED any social cooperation from turret gunners or flanking friendlies.
But... I'm sure CCP didn't mean for it to turn out like this. SOME speed addition to the HAV's drivetrain is an EXCELLENT adjustment to make the drivers for formidable in combat---but LOL, last night was like "Daffy Duck Dodger's in the 25 1/2 Century". I laughed so much, I couldn't run the controls, and left my merc standing there like an AFK in the middle of the road unprotected. (Still no one around to attack me, so you KNOW something was wrong here...)
Almost a month ago Canis Ferox started this topic in his thread "The HAVs and The HAVs Havenots...", so he must have seen this problem coming... In about a week, the complaints will be rolling in on the Forum. The HAVs will have to be slowed down some---it's impractical, improbable,... ...and they're just too funny to watch!! I can't keep my mind on what I'm doing when one of these players races by---they crack me up!
