CCP, I appreciate the effort, but... You're doing it wrong.
You obviously don't understand how to properly balance a tactical FPS.
Problem #1: Current Tier System The current tier system is harmful to game balance. Linear tiers and PvP do not mix well.
Problem #2: No "Real" Roles CCP, I think it's safe to say that you don't focus on actual roles. You'll add new content, sure, but you never define a role for it. Occasionally, you've released items analogous to real-life weaponry, but you never really think about what it's supposed to do, only how it's supposed to act. Grenades in Dust 514 obviously act like grenades in real life, but it doesn't perform the same role at all. Don't assume a weapon will fit a role because it's "similar" to something that does.
Problem #3: Lack of PvE In such a heavily competitive game, like EVE, PvE acts as an important stepping stone for new players to learn basic combat skills without being completely and totally overrun by veterans. Dust 514 completely lacks this vital step. The problem speaks for itself, as I'm sure you're well aware.
Problem #4: No Capacitor Why is there no capacitor for vehicles? That. Doesn't. Make. Any. Sense. Seriously, CCP. You mentioned capacitor multiple times in the older dev blogs, but now you don't even acknowledge that the concept exists. There's absolutely no reason why capacitor shouldn't be implemented. I'm disappointed, CCP.
Problem #5: No Consistency Dust 514 is terribly inconsistent. Not just in mechanics, but also naming and lore.
Problem #6: No Variety It's boring and repetitive as hell. 'Nuff said.
Problem #7: No Identity In EVE, everything feels important, as if it were a piece of me. All of my ships are incredibly personal. My character is shaped and displayed as I want. I can do things that most other players in EVE don't want to, and vice versa. I feel like I have an identity in EVE. There's no identity in Dust 514. Every fitting feels generic. Hell, every item feels generic. And my character isn't even a character. HE'S JUST A NAME, RACE AND SKILLSET.
Problem #8: No Industry Highly competitive MMOs? They don't work very well unless you have something worth fighting over.
Problem #9: Poor Progress Progress is slow as hell, and when they finally DO manage to do something, it's almost always poorly implemented or executed, or should've been very easy to implement. Case in point? The new Racial ARs. Combat Rifle doesn't have any mechanical differences that set it apart from the G-AR, just some minor statistical differences and different visuals. Rail Rifle is pretty much the same, apart from the charge-up time before firing (which should be a very simple change considering that the mechanic for it is already in place and has been added to many weapons already).
Okay, I lied. It's not 99 problems, it's 9 problems. Big whoop, wanna fight about it? |

In time, Gracchus. You play Eve, you know how they work. Just dont sell your house to pay for Aurum and enjoy it for what it is. Personally I would love a true industry for FW and PC to fight over, open worlds with pvp and pve and a shade more balance. The rest of your 9 points are valid. I want a whole lot more outta this game too. So much potential here. |

Strip out the rage and all of these points are my complaints as well. However, I've resigned to the game not hitting a sweet spot till 2020.
oh add no damage types to the list. Wheres my thermal grenade. I just don't feel gallente borrowing matari tech. The duct tape holding the pin in the nade just makes me nervous.
Assault dropship gets blown up....

Your above points seem valid. Here's another few, this game doesn't mirror it's partner game well enough yet to feel like it is in the same universe.
Game glitches rather than being fixed are made far worse and more prevalent with each patch. I remember playing the game without lag at all, now I turn lag, run lag, shoot lag, yes equipment spam is hardcore but this should not be an issue considering there are many ways to destroy them and so many people do, time to fix iteration and rendering of objects.
Scenery glitches such as grass floating in the air are not fixed in a timely manner, and although a bullet can shoot through a merc and rip him to shreds, if one single blade of grass blocks my firing line that bullet or bullets are absorbed by the grass as if it were 1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten but without taking any damage.
Hit detection seems fine but any time terrain comes into play with movement and ADS my scope messes up and disappears whether it is a set of stairs or a hillside. If this is a mechanic that seems to work well consider that real life objects don't just become see through if the angle you are looking at it changes.
Good job on the Combat Rifles, the increase in DPS from a Ballocs AR (never would have trained if these would have been in from the start) is perfect to contend with the Scrambler Rifles. Respecs on a Paid for Basis or as in Eve with neural remaps available 1x per 12 month period, perhaps SP respecs should be available in a time period such as this as well.
Thank you for the Aurum back on the Blueprints I had Paid for and was using, now instead of unlimited time to enjoy that purchase(s) I now will see that money pissed away within the next 4 weeks I am sure.
So you introduced a store that not only has Proto Gear for really low costs, it also has reduced SP cost to use??? WTF is going on that you think the Proto gear should be easy to skill into and cheap to purchase? 450 isk and a similar amount of LP is a really small amount of isk for something that people would other wise be spending Aurum on for the exact same suit.
BTW nice vehicle changes, now the good ones are really really really good and the militia ones are Terribad. IMO this is slightly silly with what non tankers/non Assault DS pilots had been saying before (yes they are more expensive so should be harder to kill) but why then is a proto suit so easy to kill when fully plated up and an expensive vehicle not?
I hope this game gets some really focused attention on filling out the racial gear quickly so you guys have some time to add PVE, the trainer for PVP and some other stuff that helps the game rather than just makes players rage. I am getting to the point where I dread Patch Day.

To be honest, I'm not sure whether or not they should keep updating the current engine, or if they should just scrap the current one and remake it for the PC and PS4. It's probably the current team that's the actual problem.
Bad CCP Shanghai! Bad!
Dust 514 looked really promising back in 2011. *sigh* |
