Ok. 1.7 is out. People are lollygagging with their new weapons and speedy tanks, cool. Problem is, WE'RE STILL LAGGING!
CCP, I emplore you, optimize your game. There's a serious serious issue with this game in that it's incredibly fun, has high stakes, and yet the game will sometimes simply kick you in the nuts because its framerate drops to that level of stutteriness where every action in-game is a quarter to half second behind you in real life.
PC especially has been plagued by poor performance and we all knew that already, but it's really not limited to just there. If you go into the Gallente Research Facility or Orbital Artillery while things are going on (vehicles driving around, uplinks being spammed, explosions, bullets, etc etc.) the game just poops out on you. You just kind of have to deal with it the entire time. It really hinders the overall experience when the game is not running smoothly.
Please, going forward, you guys really need to heavily improving the running performance of this game. Dropsuits, maps, weapons, all that stuff aside; make the game run at a constant 30 FPS (60 FPS would be MAGICAL) or at least give us the option to turn off all unnecessary effects to make it that way. I would rather be playing with no textures and at 30+ FPS than a pretty game that runs like a slideshow.

This is honestly the #1 reason I'm so distraught with this game. It's simply impossible to ever have a consistently smooth running match because regardless if it's PC or a pub the framerate drop is GOING to happen.
CCP please please fix the ****** framerates in this game. We've been dealing with this crap for so damn long and it's just been driving more and more people away from DUST. Even reviewers have said this game runs choppy. What is going on in your "testing" that you guys can't blatantly see this game runs so poorly?

Dust is the only consolegame i can remember with such a thing. Yesterday i started to test them out. Didn't had much time to play since then, though, so i don't know yet if or how much it helps. I put everything on low and even run an SSD and I still get really bad performance, especially in PC and large sockets. Reinstalling doesnt help.
I think the problem is the game is exceeding memory usage for some reason despite the DEVs' attempts at staying within their "memory budget". The PS3 only has 256 MB of VRAM and 256 MB of system RAM which is really not much. Some sort of bottleneck is occurring in either memory or processing power which is only exacerbated once people start to spam equipment and explosions.
KB/M input lag is an entirely different issue that seems to get worse in conjunction with the framerate. Accuracy goes out the window in PC with a KB/M due to the lag. DS3 users don't suffer as much because if aim assist working through the lag. Their input is probably delayed as well but they don't suffer as much because of aim assist acting as a buffer.
