The new damage indicator introduced in 1.7 is very obtrusive, whenever I'm getting shot it looks like someone is throwing red paint on my visor. I find it harder to tell where I'm getting shot from with this new indicator (it needs to be dialed back or reverted to the old indicator). Overall, I find 1.7 to be a very solid update so far. |

I just had a guy shooting me that for the life of me I could not figure out where he was.
Once I went down, I realized the guy was at just the right range on a slope so that the hit indicator was actually covering him up. |

I agree that intrusive hit indicators or hit indicators that do not properly indicate where you are getting hit from are stupid and lame. On the other hand, a quick fix may be to adjust the transparency setting of your HUD graphics in the options menu.

It's kind of hard to be aware when the person shooting you is covered up by a red splash on your hud. |

For a while I was getting it confused with the effect for being remote repaired. "Ahh", I would think, "I'm being repaired. Lovely".
