the covent sniper is my new fav. it free its deadly and on an assault suit you can still hack objectives, it even works in tunnels underground, aim for heads (very easy at <200m ) shoot and move on .make sure your can give a good sprint though and have that side arm ready.
I do miss camping, looking down my scope the whole match killing 30+ mercs Only people that don't use a Charge or Thale's are useless. Well that's too bad, my countersnipe rifle of choice is the C-27N Specialist Sniper Rifle, but my Nova Knives work just as well to kill snipers as do my grenades or SR/AR/CR/MD, in fact snipers are my favorite targets. There is nothing quite so satisfying as seeing a sniper go down. Not even when I find a Proto Bear that I can take down nice and quick because he decides he can take on the one lone logi in a crowd, in fact I like shooting logis too. I'm really not sure why making one tower inaccessible is such a big deal. There are far better spots to be sitting with a sniper rifle on all the maps. That tower(s) was really not a great place to park a dropship anyways so why bother?

So hide in the hills with a thale's and think I'm awesome doing the head glitch trick and rage every time someone actually hits me? No I don't think so.
This is not a technical support thread this is a feedback QQ thread, Devs please move this so more people can give their input without confusion of what the problem is.

Apparently, perhaps when I look up at a tower next time it will be my Sniper rifle of choice that finds you.

I'll likely see you on the kill feed, using a Thale's. I'll likely find you on a hillside sitting next to an uplink. Got it! Oh? Now why would I use an un-replaceable weapon when I can use a militia rifle for the same task? Uplink? Find me? hah, don't worry nova knives will work too.

Here's a full detailed list of the "Sniper Nerfs" from this latest patch, most of which are not in the patch notes.
1. Can't snipe from the obelisks (aka shark fins) anymore. They were changed so you slide right off the slanted angle now. This was my main Thale's sniping spot for PC. In general this means more snipers will be in less useful more predictable places for public matches.
sidenote: You can still get up there to snipe but you're hanging off the bottom edge of it where they failed to retexture with that no stick coating. You're completely exposed and can't even move if you're being shot at.
2. AV grenades were downgraded, combined with drop ship hit points being upgraded. It now takes 4 standard, 3 advanced, or 3 prototype AV grenades to kill a militia drop ship. Where as before it would only take 2. Meaning it's way easier to harass and successfully land next to a sniper on a tower who is using AV as a defense.
3.Everyone got hit by this one, but the shield extender -7% recharge delay. Meaning if I do get shot I have to hide even longer for health to regenerate. Slowing the game down.
4.The health gauge information display was shifted to the right instead of directly below your crosshair. It's really awkward having to shift your eyes down and to the right as opposed to just down and back up.
5. Little or no indication if you successfully hit someone with your sniper rifle, there's no sound upon hit, and often the hitmarker won't appear. Meaning you don't know if you need to line up a second shot if they're close to cover, because you don't know if they're half way dead.. or not. Feedback, not technical support. Still I guess it's here now technically. Ever consider that everyone was nerfed equally with AVs so really the only issue is you don't like the health where it is and you can't land a DS on an obelisk anymore. Both are feedback type posts.

LOL, if only there were a stat for how many hacks, which weapon you kill with and how many times you use a nanite injector, but no, the only stats we have are K/D/WP. Still Feedback sir, not a technical dificulty no matter how many times you kill someone be it with a charged, thales or ishukone SR. As for my opinion it is just my own but you have a sense of entitlement about having nice sniping spots, something that I have yet to read in the EULA and doesn't make sense to me, why should you be able to snipe without risk of retribution and me need to run around and pick up people that you botch the kill on only to get shot by you for the favor I do for someone else?

Players in all combat roles take necessary measures to maximize their advantages while minimizing their risks. In the case of snipers a large part of that adaptive strategy involves discovering good positions on each map from which to engage important points in battle. These locations are selected not just because they offer high kill opportunities but also because they offer vantages and cover that compensate for the frequent immobility that's required to quickly find and accurately strike targets (and I'm talking about both strategic camper-style sniping and the tactical run & gun style). For these reasons detection avoidance is often paramount, especially in fittings that sacrifice defenses to enhance sensor and weapon capabilities (for instance, the scout I used tonight has a mere 204 EHP and is almost sure to die in any CQC encounter). So for CCP to take away favorite sniping spots and force snipers to change their knowledge bases and strategies while facing increased risks of detection and counterfire, this is just as bothersome as having a favorite firearm or other gear nerfed, especially when it's done on the sly like this. Well, considering it was announced in the Dev Blogs that they were changing how the maps were designed to provide more cover for people hacking objectives and putting snipers on a more even playing field where the spots were more accessible to everyone (not just DS pilots) and with less cover, I would hardly say it was done on the sly. I understand your frustration but perceive that there is a problem when the only people to go through the match without deaths seem to be the snipers. As a part time sniper myself I suggest that maybe if you work harder on finding those better spots you would not be saying there are less of them. I have seen quite a few new spots that offer excellent vantages as well as good cover on the new maps, although perhaps the vantages do not look over the areas you prefer. Still it is worth doing a few solo matches in a cheap sniper fit to run around finding the prime locations for future reference. Many of the old locations are still there too, but I would say that using an old spot that everyone knows about is a poor choice for someone who has spent quite a few SP into perfecting their sniper fits.
EDIT:PS. Yes, I have tried a thales once or twice, and know the differences between all the sniper rifles.

- Damage Mods (Funneling snipers into a new suit to maintain with some loss current damage percentages)
The time to kill for snipers does not need to be adjusted. Having to land 3 shots with a charged sniper rifle on anything other than a Sentinel or Commando just isn't acceptable. Balancing the sniper rifles a couple times a year to match the evolution of the game and the appropriate time to kill would solve all the issues. Should you choose to acknowledge any. Instead it's one incomprehensible stealth nerf after another.
The new suit I was referring to is the
*Caldari Commando*
+10% damage to rail weapons +another light weapon to defend yourself +high shielding good against counter snipers -larger signature radius -larger suit easier to spot / hit / slow movement -no armor regen -no grenades for AV defense -maxiumum nanohives carried is 1
(being physically larger kills this for me)
- AV Grenades (You can't even fend off a militia dropship with 2 prototype packed AV grenades.)
I no longer recognize that these serve any purpose. These at one point provided good defense against getting road killed by enemy drop ships, or preventing a poor pilot from landing right next to you. Currently they provide poor defense, however better than nothing. Come 1.8 nothing would be better actually. (requires less cpu / pg) LOL, ever wonder what life would be like if everyone else not in AE listened to Kujo and his BS about you need to do it this way or that way? Seems like you two are cut from the same cloth, glad to see the tears flowing hard. Maybe next patch they will issue foam darts for snipers, glad to see you still sit in a fat ass suit that is easy to find.

You sir are quite possibly the worst I have ever seen at fitting, maybe not though. I think Elmo still uses the starter sniper fitting, wait that would be an improvement and cost less...

I'm not sure what you mean, explain if you will. In 1.7 I was using the Caldari Logi for sniping primarily, and a Minmitar Assault for my more aggressive build. No one has ever told me what to do when it comes to sniping or skill point usage. This is my first time ever using a heavy suit for sniping, and it's not for the health bonuses or extra large hit box I assure you. I'm not sure where you're getting your ideas from. Still not the best suit, still a QQ thread. Thales are better for a shelf rather than your heavy ***** suit.
