So I decided to try out the two new weapons today, this is how I made my judgement relatively fair: - both times I had only the rifle level 1 skill learned. - I used the standard rifle of each. - I used the same gear, Amarr Assault A/1 with two shield extenders, one armour extender and a repairer. - I played both games in Amarr Factional Warfare, both games were full duration.
My K/D is 2.36 and W/L is 1.1.
And out came the results: Rail Rifle - 5 kills, 6 deaths. Combat Rifle - 21 kills, 4 deaths.
I haven't played Dust 514 for several weeks, and with no skill at all I popped out a very good result with the Combat Rifle... It is immensely overpowered and easy to use compared to the Rail Rifle. I am calling for a damage nerf. It seems that with about 4-5 bursts I can kill an enemy, whereas the Rail Rifle requires a much larger degree of skill to use.

Yes, judging by the huge difference in skill it takes to use either of them.

Seriously... it has literally got nothing to do with peoples' gear nowadays. It is about who sees who first and who is more skilled and who has what weapon. 30 more armour HP and 30 less shield HP would make a negligible difference n the time it takes.

That makes the sample size per gun n=1.
Come back after 30+ matches each. Any single match could've gone either way just by chance. PFFF. You think these guys understand that? I'm surprised he didn't do the tests in Academy. Seems like that's how you "test" things in this game.
This was my first impression, the purpose of the test was to see how easily I could use it with no experience with it at all... and it seems as if the Combat Rifle is much easier to use. Whether it is better when used properly is a completely different matter.

Your thread title is "Combat Rifle - Overpowered" and you are literally calling for a damage nerf in your closing statement (before backpedaling edit). Your "first impression" OP does a terrible job at not looking like a kneejerk "X Overpowered. Nerf X" OP (again, before backpedaling edit).
How is my first impression doing 'a terrible job'? It tells me that the Combat Rifle can be picked up and used to an absurd extent instantaneously, whereas the Rail Rifle cannot. Therefore, the CR is overpowering.

Chief-Shotty wrote:Sorry but you can't just play two games with one test for each rifle and make an educated factual conclusion. That doesn't give you any evidence that they are overpowered. You have just been part of a game where you were in the right place at the right time or perhaps your a CQC battle guy in which the Combat Rifle is meant for. I had games with the rail rifle and went 34 and 2 at just base level but other times i couldn't do squat. You need multiple test samples under many different environments including a proto stomp area, new-berry area and etc. Besides have you consider the ammunition consumption of the gun? You burn through ammo like its going out of style. You sir, are why we can't have nice things.
Isn't this how racism and stereotyping starts? Oh look 2 black guys are good at basketball...I guess that means ALL BLACK PEOPLE ARE GOOD AT BASKETBALL!
It really does... it shows how easy it is to pick it up with no experience and to nail a good game... Turns out I did 6.3x better just because I used the different gun, not only better, but better than I usually do with the SCR anyway...
And why are you bringing racism into this?

Lynn Beck wrote:First match on my main i took my recruit BPO and tried it with the rail and the CR. Rail won tremendously. Don't CQC with the RR? Seems to be my advice. Railrifles are easy as $h1t to counter: peekaboo and burstfire. On the other hand, the RR wins unanimously at the Adv tier around 80 or so meters. RR also has no recoil for the first 3-5 shots. So burst fire it.
I didn't.
