They wanted a certain TTK to be implemented. We adjusted to the slow TTK (especially if you came from a CoD or BF background) but once they got it where they wanted it, we complained. But eventually we'll adapt and adjust. Funny thing is, you don't ever hear people complaining that they killed another player to fast. "Darn it, I killed that Heavy way to fast" said NOBODY EVER!
Also, vehicles. Vehicles are supposed to reign supreme in DUST 514. Hello? EvE is all about vehicles. DUST is supposed to center around vehicles on the battlefield with infantry support. Don't believe me? Look at every trailer, video, and vignette that CCP has made of DUST. You'll see a little bit of everything, but you'll constantly see infantry working off the vehicle support. Orbital Strikes now even work from vehicle support cross platformed from another game even.
Its not to say that it will becoming an all vehicle battlefield, but like real warfare, vehicles will do the majority of the work and the infantry will come and do clean up. I believe this is the model CCP is trying to achieve. Vehicles can't hack objectives or fit in small spaces. That is where the infantry comes in.
This has been brought up in the past, but it's a good reminder.
As a military (US marines) vet, I'll say you better look up as what vehicles actually do in the battlefield. We (infantry) do more then just clean up anyone's mess. Reason why our tanks do get set to the yard is because of us. |

In every engagment where infantry is present, TANKS, JETS, and HELI are support. Yes and I'm including golf and Vietnam.
If all your seeing is choppers raining hell, and tanks surging into city first from your comp or tele then your not getting whole pic. get the info from someone that was there. or in the military. |

What is the very first plan of action during conflict? We implement technology first and use humans after. Since the implementation of technology in warfare it has taken the front seat. Since WWI, technology was escalated on the battlefiled. The days of soldiers fighting on a piece of ground are long gone. The side with the most technology wins and suffers the least amount of causalities. Do we send in infantry divisions before we've had aerial asserted? No. And, what in fact puts the infantry in the arena and then takes them back out? The infantry doesn't walk there and fight and walk back again like they did during the American Civil War. I'm not saying that infantry aren't important, I'm saying that they are being used less and less in place of technology. This isn't the year 1903 anymore. More casualties have been caused from aerial and artillery implementation than person-to-person soldier conflict BY FAR. This was made evident by Germany's Blitzkrieg tactics that waved into technology first with infantry support after. It worked and it has been getting used and improved upon ever since. So, how does this apply to DUST 514? Well, when you spawn, you are rather far from the first objective. Do you run there or just hop in a vehicle and take a quick ride there? When you are in heated engagements is it smart to take on 10 people at once with your light or heavy weapon, or be in a tank? Bottom line, vehicles were made to be dominate in DUST 514 from the way they designed the game in the first place. Yes, its considered a FPS, but it's centered around vehicles not just soldier vs soldier like CoD is. Teams that implement technology win. Using vehicles to their full potential is the difference between good corps that wipe the face of other teams and corps that win based on the other team's noobery.
Boots on the ground. Hold the ground. how is the intel gathered so these drones (thinking that's the tech your talking about) know where to bomb? who calls in the tanks to go ahead and come in? or the jets to go ahead and bomb. Things don't just happen like a thunder strike. Tanks don't just roll out, nor do drones or anything other tech. boots are already there man. before the tanks have rolled in. 4-6 man squad are still infantry. Who else makes sure that those expensive tuna cans survive?

As a combat veteran, I disagree, tanks do not get blown up very often. Air support does not get blown up very often, at least in recent years against the Taliban. WWII is a different story. We didn't really have the luxury of vehicles where I deployed to, but air support was a bonus, and so was things like artillery. If we had tanks or other up armored vic's with 50's, that probably would have helped us out in a few fire fights. But for the most part, the terrain was just to inaccessible and the vechicles were more likely to just get stuck or fall off the narrow roads into a canal. IED's weren't to big a problem since we swept the roads pretty good, and I can tell you having a MK 19 on the MRAP helped quite a bit when we did find an IED and got ambushed, it was certainly a scale tipper. I agree with the above statement, vehicle superiority is important.
tell that to our russian air comrades.

This has been brought up in the past, but it's a good reminder. Actually vehicles in real combat get blown up alot more than you think. Light infantry ( no vehicles) actually die less than mech units Tanks last longer in a fight although tank crews sure meet a grizzlier death. The lifetime expectancy of a Marine infantryman is 2 seconds. If you live that long you have done your duty. For all those folks on here that think that being a man is about facing your enemy at close quarters; you would last about .5 secs and you would owe the Corps another 1.5 secs. Be smart. Stay in school, don't do drugs, don't go into the real military if you think it's about being a man and shoot from any RL redline equivalent that you can find. Play smarter, don't try harder.
that should go without saying. along with just go into the navy or air force. "You want to be able to put your hands in your pockets huh son? talk to the piggys?" heh.. just remember something my old sgt use to say. It true tho any one will last a lot longer if your not in the front line. I tho joined the marines cause I didn't want to be just anybody. did my job. no regrets.
aerial recon only goes so far. Boots on the ground is a lot different now then it was during ww2 or nam. but marines? we still are the first in. you see us or not.
