I spawn into my first match of the morning with optimism. 1.7's patch notes looked great on paper and so far I haven't witness any game breaking bugs. With my shiny new rail rifle in hand I take to the field with my squad...
Fast forward through several FW and instant battles...
In my naivety I forgot the majority of the playerbase in Dust: The Protobear. Little did I know, but they are turning out in record numbers to play with all of 1.7's new toys. Duvolle AR's, Imperial SR's, and every proto logi suit under the sun proceed to remind me that they are going to win regardless of the tactics I use or the quality of my squad composition.
So I acknowledge 1.7 as a bittersweet victory; while FW 2.0 is a massive improvement, while the new weapons are both hilariously fun, while the vehicle rebalance appears to be a success... we will all continue to suffer with protostompers.
On a related note: I think CCP is purposefully moving incredibly slowly on the protostomping issue. Think about it, the more players who get horrendously murdered by the protobears the more people are tempted to buy AUR weapons and armor to combat the proto-hordes.
One final note, CCP Remnant believes TTK is a-okay. You heard it here folks: that Duvolle AR dropping you in 1.1 seconds is working as intended.

Technically you are right, but you do not get ISK for participating in FW. You are forced to turn to instant battles for ISK; which is where you will get protostomped frequently and thoroughly.

I think you are giving protobears a little too much credit... they aren't in full proto gear because they are afraid of someone TK'ing them. They are in full proto gear because it allows them to go 30/1 while semi-AFK.

Not much of it considering after 4 kills you are kicked from FW for 24 hours...

Close to where we want it to be? Ah, I see, so 1.3 seconds TTK against a Duvolle AR. Understood.

I can fit a proto caldari suit. I don't use them for multiple reasons, but the top being they are too expensive. I haven't been around since beta so ISK is tight for me. At one time I ran advanced suits, but when you get protostomped for a few nights in a row you can't even afford to do that anymore.
Jariel Manton wrote:I just don't understand this community, your complaining that people are using good suits. That is like a rupture roam complaining that the enemy brought AHACS.
Trouble is, in Eve you can run away in a rupture if you see a HAC coming. The HAC might gank one or two of you, but the rest will probably make it out of there. What are my options in Dust? Leave match, join another match with more protobears?

What skills counter having a significantly stronger tank and the ability to fit prototype weapons exactly? Assuming I can't afford proto gear.

Look, I get that you don't want your gravy train to stop. Way back I played a shaman in WoW when they could windfury proc and drop pretty much any class in a second. Believe me, I understand why you hold on to your protostomping ways. It's easy and probably fun to protostomp... but you are causing new and semi-new players to quit Dust simply so you can get some easy ISK and SP.
I personally want to see Dust flourish, and we won't see that day so long as protobears keep doing what protobears do.
