With the Combat Rifle being such a low-PG weapon, I'd suggest changing the fitting optimization from PG to CPU to better match the weapon profile.
As it currently stands, an investment of nearly two million SP results in only a 2 PG reduction at prototype level, and 1 PG or less at Standard and Advanced, rendering the skill nearly valueless. With the Plasma Cannon, there is already some precedent for deviating from FIt. Op. = PG, it would make sense for this to apply to the Combat Rifle as well. |

That's essentially unavailable to Combat Rifles. |

i believe they are all meant to be a sink. 1-2 pg more spare on a suit often means 1 better piece of other gear and equipment. if your going for optimisation of your setup then that is its purpose. besides most suits have excess cpu anyway. generally speaking you will likely pg out before you cpu out

I believe they said some time ago they are looking at redoing a lot of those skills, because some of them aren't really catering to the weapon that the skill is attached to. I think the first was to change the +5% ammo on some weapons to just +1 to make it more viable and clear. That PG 6x skill is really a horrific one to train, plus it's never very clear how much PG you're reducing unless you pull out your calculator right there on the skill screen and remember the PG for your weapon - they need to rework this. Same goes for skills that have no discernable passive bonus - the grenade skill is a good example - it just gives you access to different types of grenades, and CCP already acknowledged this needs to be changed, but again it's probably low on the priority list.
Finally, we have the useless skills - I think it was "dropsuit command" or something that beyond skill 3 doesn't give any bonus or access to anything in particular. There have been numerous threads on this and similar topics, and CCP have acknowledged there is an issue, but I feel the skills will be fixed in a piecemeal manner rather than in one fell swoop. |
