It's a rare case where the proto version of that suit is 100x better simply because you can fit so much more. Then again, passive skills usually make any ADV suit good, you just need to use it right.

If I were you I'd get minmatar logi to ADV if you like minmatar. I've been doing super well with it and it has the perfect amount of slots for almost any kind of role.

Having more versatility (i.e. more types of suits and weapons) is much better than just running the same proto suit over and over again. I have skills in shotguns, mass drivers, Forge guns, Heavy suits, HMGs, Scrambler Rifles, and soon here I will have the combat rifle maxed.

I have 26 million, and only have a few regrets in terms of unwise skill point spending (commando suits, plasma cannon, Assault Rifles, uplinks past level 2, etc). Another thing is that I don't have passives like hacking, armor, or shield upgrades past level 4. That amount of skill points they cost to upgrade compared to the benefit of the upgrade is not worthwhile. Same thing with weapon proficiency past level 3 for most weapons (scrambler and combat rifles are the only exception).

If you still can't decide, spend your points towards a prototype suit. You'll be happy later. Weapons are EASY to skill into compared to suits. It costs 600k to get to lvl 5 operation, and another 300 if you want proficiency 3 (9% extra damage). Best part is each step of the way takes only a short while to save up skill points for, and isn't just you sitting there waiting for 1 million sp. You won't ever have another chance like this so use that large chunk of skill points to your advantage.

I will be getting dropship, LLAV and turret SP back along with some from the core vehicle skills. I'll be getting back around 1,100,000-1,200,000 SP, and I have about 300,000 saved up right now. Here's the issue I'm working on is how to spend it: I run Minmatar suits mostly, and plan to exclusively now that the Combat Rifle comes out with it's improved fitting requirements. However, I've been putting off getting a proto suit for the LONGEST time (23m+ SP, still no proto. I am TERRIBLE at saving SP lol, I have about 10 AUR ones for fitting experiments and I have SOOO MANY PASSIVE SKILLS), and I'd really like to get one by using this SP I am getting back. However, I also want to get my new Combat rifle. My current Minmatar Assault skill is at 3, so I still have 2 levels to go to proto and this SP won't put me in it, but it WILL put me close enough that I'd be willing to finish saving for it. Soooo... should I apply all of my SP to the CR? Should I save it all and go for my proto? Or should I grab the first 3-4 levels of the CR and save the rest for working on my proto suit? Tough choise, I'd say get to LV three CbR, then go proto suit, and use the specialist CbR until, until you can get it skilled up. shrugs Yeah... that's what I was thinking too. I haven't run a real logi fitting since Codex, so that thought is enticing.... however I just can't do it. I have prof. 5 subs, op 4 pistols, & op 3 flaylocks, I feel naked without my sidearms. But you do make a good case, the proto suit isn't that great for Minmatar Assault. I'd have 2 more highs and a little more PG/CPU. I do well enough in my basic & ADV fits. I may well just get the CR done and out of the way, then while I'm enjoying myself with it, I can try to ignore my SP for a month or so as it builds up. I'm also getting a decent amount of AUR back from BPO removals, so I'll be able to afford a few boosters to help as well. Thank you all for your input, it has been a great help. MINMATAR ARISE!
