Is this thing directional or 360 because for the life of the Matari I can't tell.

I've always thought it was directional.
I'd like a module that allows me to have a passive 360 scan please.

1. It's completely 360 degrees. 2. You can see through any obstruction (except through hills and rocks) with it.
When trained to max, using the Gallente Scout, and using at least 3 complex range amplifiers, you can see up to 70 meters even with stacking penalties. The best part about it for the Gallente scout is that A) you don't alert the enemy that they are being scanned and B) you can dictate the terms of the engagement since you can see so far without the active scanner. I have an alt that can already use the Gallente Scout with three enhanced range amplifiers which let me see up to at least 50 meters. A 50 meter radius is a lot of area to cover for something that's passive.
There is one downside to it though.
You can't see other scouts with it. But that only means they won't be able to see you either.
OK, CCP. When are knives finally going to be improved?

No idea, I assumed 360 last time I used a light suit. |

I do not think it is 360. I have a proto gal scout and lv 5 in range skill. I keep an eye on my tachnet while playing and have on several occasions been shoot in the back, have either an enhanced or complex range amplifier installed. The red dots is not shown on the tachnet before they start shooting at me when they are behind me. This is not always the case, either they are running dampener modules on their suits or the passive scanning is not fully 360 degrees.
Yesterday I had three red dots magically appear within my scan range radius behind as they started shooting at me.
The same thing happens even if I have an enhanced precision enhancer module added and lv 4 precision skill. I have not tested it fully but started to make regular spins to check the area behind me. Sadly it usually happens as I am engaged in a firefight and unaware of the area behind me. Maybe I need level 5 precision and a complex precision enhancer to detect medium frames with complex dampeners added. |

I think its 360 but not a perfect circle. You have a lot of scan rang in front, a little less on the sides, and the least scan range behind you.
When you turn a corner and find the entire enemy team.Oh Heck

I have tested it extensively with the Gallente Scout on my alt and I can confirm beyond a shadow of a doubt that passive scan IS 360 degrees. The only reason someone managed to sneak up on you even with your 360 passive scan was because the passive scan precision that you had on your suit was not enough to pick up another scout suit sneaking up on you.
Every time I died while running the Gallente Scout when no one appeared on the mnimap, it was because of a scout whose scan profile was always smaller than my suit's passive scan precision. And since the Gallente Scout Gk.0 only has one high slot, I will never be able to catch an enemy scout even with a complex precision enhancer.
Of course, every time I died because of another scout I couldn't see was because I was standing next to an enemy installation or objective which practically lights me up like a Christmas-decorated house flashing to the tune of Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

It's actually even all around. However, someone else did confirm that there is a point just within your maximum scan range (about 10m short of your max range) in which red dots on the minimap would start to fade but will still be visible until your max range.

Its directional, based on the angle stat in the info.
360 scans are done by the player spinning on the spot.
I'd expect New Eden tech to be able to scan through walls!

This man speaks the truth. Although, when I tested it with Bojo I'm pretty sure we saw through hills.
People underestimate the short range and confuse it with the visual detection.

Are you sure you were able to see through hill? I tried it out myself but I wasn't able to see anyone through the hill but had no problem seeing through man-made walls.

You make me doubt myself. It was a few patches ago and our ranges were shorter then so maybe Bojo had to climb higher on the hill and that affected the result. I don't think we tested rocks either. It was line harvest on the hilly side and we tested with the pipes and the shallow terrain.
