Knowing you're playing fresh academy graduate noobs, people still use top teir gear, tanks, and every exploit they can to crush the other team to the most one-sided matches any FPS has ever had. And NOBODY can afford to run proto 100% in pubs without: a) Major corp backing b) An ISK farming alt c) Backing out of bad matches
Sorry, but that's how it goes. Proto is beyond expensive compared to what pub matches pay out. You'd have to hold a KDR of 10 or higher to afford proto in pubs without ever backing out of game. I think a proto sniper is about the only thing that can be ran in pubs 24/7 for a profit.
I used to run only ADV gear in Chromosome, then I ran nothing but PRO in Uprising because rich. I've made like 80 mil since Uprising running solely proto in pubs.
Also this complaining over proto gear in pubs is real dumb, as it's CCP's fault. Most proto users are PC active. To PC players, pubs are not for good competition, they really are only for getting your weekly SP, as PC pays better. You get more SP and ISK the better your perform, so the incentive to use proto gear is there. 'But don't you feel bad for stomping newer players?' Sometimes, but what can I do? Use **** gear, perform worse, and slow down my SP and ISk gain? In other games people don't complain about the competitive players (professional gamers) stomping in pubs, because it's understood that they're just playing a game they enjoy, or practicing/trying something out, even if they outclass everyone in the match. You know what those other games have that Dust doesn't, to prevent all the tears? Proper matchmaking.
The argument "Well I invested time to get this gear, I should be able to use it!" is valid. You wouldn't complain to a lvl 55 in CoD that he's using guns you don't have yet. You suck it up and put the time in to get to that level. Same thing, though time involved is far greater in Dust.
PC players are among the most devout of Dust players. To not see them as a major factor is ridiculous, and like it was previously said, CCP needs to balance from the top down. Results will trickle down naturally. The FotM tends to follow PC players. A player uses an unpopular weapon/mod/fit in PC. It does well, other players mimic, therefore trying it out in pubs. Pub players get stomped, try out what they got stomped by, it spreads, now you have a FotM. CCP appeals to the masses by nerfing it (it may have been perfectly balanced in PC matches where almost everyone is min-maxed), weapon/mod/fit becomes outclassed in PC, new item takes its place, and repeat. PC players are the reason Logi suits are always FotM.
