first of all im not a pro player and I do not have an eve connection, i am looking for feedback to compare ISK levels between a dust exclusive player and someone with a connection to eve, many players have so much isk that they just dont care if they make a profit on the match, and this creates protostomping, someone with 400 millions of isk can afford to run proto every match at everytime, while dust exclusive players have a much harder time gaining isk, and so regardless of skill just by having a connection to another game, some players gain the advantage of a fortune, so i am asking for feedbackon what do you think, is this fair?, is it not?, they earned the isk so why cant they use it?, it poisons the necessary competition for a growing game?, tell me what you think

Ultimately the issue is actually closed/open beta vets sitting on enormous piles of ISK from the Chromosome-to-Uprising asset refund. Believe me, I've tried to transfer ISK to my DUST character from my EVE character, and it doesn't work.
Not in a "I send ISK, but it never arrives" way, but in a "there is no 'gief iskies' option for EVE-to-DUST transfers". Ironically, DUST players can send EVE players ISK.
Now, I'll be honest, I don't know if EVE-DUST ISK transfer can be accomplished by simply having an EVE toon and a DUST toon in the same corporation, with both toons having corp wallet access. Maybe someone/I'll have to test that funding vector out.
Further, many corps known for protostomping are at least token landholders in PC, wherein they literally rake in the millions from the sale of clone packs. To the point that everybody in their corps can run proto 99%+ of the time, and not care if they die ten or twenty times in a single match, because 'lolPClandowners'.
As an aside, I think the common conception is that DUST players who came from EVE (and are usually bad at EVE*) are bad at DUST, so the 'protostomping' is how they actually compete.... not really a good excuse, of course.
*The largest sovereignty holding body in EVE are the Goons. 99% of Goons are glorified mouthbreathing F1-button mashers. Contrast to DUST, where the largest territory holders (by landownership in both counts) has to have a higher percentage of dudes who know which way to point their ARs, and are capable of more than R1-button mashing. Ironic, isn't it?
EDIT:

To echo this sentiment, when I am able to support my DUST toons via my EVE toons, then there will be no end to the fact that I will be able to run my awesome gear at least 70-80% of the time, if not more. |

Well, things may get a bit dicey on the ground if there's 255 glorified mouthbreathing F1-button mashers in space orbiting the bombardment satellite...

I'm honestly unsure of the ability of a fleet of Goons to take over a bombardment sat. Half of this is because I doubt even higher-up Goon FCs who actually do know what their doing even understand FW mechanics.
The other half is because EVE-side FW corps actually do tend to have greater per-pilot competence. Mostly because 99% of Goons can be glorified F1-button mashers because only 1-4 people actually have to do the thinking and blubber out, say, "Sponk is primary!", since Goons typically deploy hundreds to thousands of warships that allows them to point another player out and have that player's ship suffer critical existence failure. |

There will be a big difference which will allow constant use of high end gear.
I propose another stat that should be implemented with the player market: ISK efficiency.
This info being public and on the leaderboard could help in a few ways. It would make people more aware of their costs and might drive people to use weaker gear. Even with a beautiful KD/R, no one likes seeing isk losses. Might try to get out of the red and into the black.
I think the stats of your opponents should be available to you quickly and easily when you're in the warbarge.
Is it fair that dusties linked to pilots get access to more isk? Of course. This is part of the sandbox. CCPs universe are fun games in themselves but talking to other people and scheming and planning with them and really playing the social aspects of Eve is what keeps me coming back. I suggest talking to pilots and look for connections yourself to find a group of people you enjoy playing with.
Cheers, eh. |
