The large, fertile plains of Matar, home planet of the Minmatar, with endless herds of hoofed animals, proved ideal for a nomadic lifestyle. The fabulous conditions on Matar coupled with more than enough space meant there was less incentive to struggle to keep up the technology level after the closure of the EVE Gate. For ages the Minmatar roamed this paradise, slowly divided by time and distance into numerous tribes.

Forming a third of the Federation's total population, the Minmatar are the largest immigrant bloc in the nation, taking up a large portion of labor occupations and frontline military units.

Emancipation

Jamyl shocked the entire cluster when she announced the historic emancipation of millions of Minmatar slaves. Every Minmatar slave of 9th generation and up, plus any involved in theological and academic fields, were to be released from bondage.[37]

While most Holders followed through on the demands, some did not approve of the emancipation. While a few attempted to trick authorities[38], others outright refused to release their slaves.[39] These Holders, nicknamed Refusards, were condemned by the Theology Council and refused aid by the Speakers of Truth.[40] Eventually, they were destroyed by a fleet commanded by Chamberlain Kor-Azor.[41]

The reception throughout the cluster was mixed. The Caldari offered to train any former slaves who would be remaining in the Empire as part of a joint plan with the Amarr.[42] The response of the Federation was decidedly mixed, with many applauding the new-found freedom of the slaves, while others worried that an influx of refugees would disrupt life.[43] The Republic viewed the move with caution, welcoming the freed slaves, but reminding everyone that the Empire still held millions more in bondage.[44]

We still let millions of slaves go even though we gave them education but hey were just the bad guys not like you attacked Amarr prime and slaughtered innocent women and children :-)

Minmatar warships had invaded Amarr space, beaten up entire fleets, and brought back countless liberated slaves.

Invasion with the purpose to liberate. The rest is just collateral. Remember the slaves are owned by poeple and unfortunately if these people and their families stand against liberation they too will be mowed down.

The Amarr first discovered the Minmatar early in 22355 AD. They were the largest civilization the Amarr Empire had thus far encountered, and the first that had settlements outside of their own system. Determining them a potential threat, the Empire spent a long time covertly assessing the Minmatar's capabilities and defenses, and, finding them sorely lacking, waited only for the proper opportunity to strike.

In 22480, when a large storm hit the continent of Coricia on Matar, the Amarr launched a swift first strike, destroying space installations and ship yards all throughout Pator, and throwing the Minmatar chain of command into chaos.

With the storm and military attacks over, the Amarr deployed six massive slave vessels to different planets in Pator, and scooped up the survivors. The colonies on Belogor, Varkal, and Kulheim were completely depopulated during this raid. On Huggar and Syld, the colonies lost over half their populations, while on Matar, the Minmatar put up a fierce resistance on the surface. However, having known no large-scale warfare for centuries, and with their infrastructure in shambles as a result of both the storm and the precision of the Amarr military strikes, they were unable to prevent the Amarr from enslaving hundreds of millions on Matar alone. This was the largest of the slave raids that would continue for the next millennium that would see the enslavement of hundreds of millions more.

I hate the Amarr.

The Minmatar were emancipated by the Empress, that is a fact, the 9th generations and up as well as those in the theological disciplines, many of whom chose to remain in the Empire rather than return to Minmatar space.

Other who did return home are persecuted by the Minmatar for continuing to preach and worship the Amarrian God.

Because of this their tradition of conquering the larger poplui from their homeworld Athra, led them to make slavery an aspect of their culture out of necessity, and in doing so it soon became a part of their religious doctrine that slaves were to be taken so that the other peoples of New Eden would know the trials the Amarr suffered on Athra before they could come to the realisation that the Faith was pure.

An example of this was the Ni Kunni peoples, while not in keeping with the tenets of the Faith, their own religion being closer to that of the Sani, were a people who submitted to the Amarr. Their acceptance of a new culture and way of life saw the majority of them enslaved for no more than a generation and as a result they were amalgamated into the Empire.

The Minmatar on the other hand were a people who grew to power on Paradise world, their own histories were rife with tribal slavery and forced labour, however the Amarr looked at them and had high hopes for them. However the Minmatar are a natural aggressive and stubborn people.

Unlike the Ni Kunni they took the chance to resist at every turn.

Now admittedly lets not give the Minmatar more credit than they are due, they bested a weakened Amarrian Empire after the battle of Vak Akioth and were aided and supplied by the Gallente.

No doubt they fought valiantly, but millions died either side of the war because that's what it was. With Billions of Minmatar slaves rebelling across all planets and systems orbital bombardments were carried out. Some would call this an atrocity but in a war where the enemy is nestled amongst the urban centres and rebelling from our own fortifications it is a necessary tactic.

Now we can move on to the Elder Fleet, a massive invasion of the Empire by the Minmatar with the intent to free any Slaves that could be found and kill any Amarr possible. Halted only by the timely return of the Empress to the Empire single handledly wiping out the Minmatar fleet with a device of untold destruction.

In short the Amarr do what they do to ensure the spiritual enlightenment and repurposing of the subjugated races for what they see to be the betterment of Mankind as a whole, and the Empire itself.

Admittedly in recent years that Amarr have gone through a tempering. In the wake of the peacemaking Emperor Heideran the Amarr forbade violence against slaves as a tool of control, amongst other acts of galactic peacekeeping which earnt the Emperor the Aldonis Statue, for his efforts.
