I think you should go back and check your numbers mate. Before unlocking the assault branch you need 3 levels of medium frames. To max a role-branch it costs 2.4mil SP. Level 4 + level 5 of assault branch = 1.9mil alone! LOL. So no, you did not do the maths correctly, unless you are saying that to go from an advanced assault to a proto assault is 1.9mil SP, which would be correct, but.... a new characer doesn't magically gain advanced assault from nowhere.

24,000x7 = 167 000 plus weekly cap of 190 000 =358 000 a week.
Why do you think the player base is so small? The pubstomping and lack of advertising dust. The new eve patch gets a lot of publicity.
The only reason WP is a bad measure of worth is because it pretty much only rewards equipment use meaning logis are more likely to get out of academy first. If the WP reward system was more comprehensive I would agree that it is the best way to determine when people leave the academy.
LMFAO!! You bash his maths and then go right ahead and fail in the same area yourself! PMSL! So.... 4 x 7 = 27 huh? Ok, keep thinking that.
He was in fact right to say 168,000 (if he didn't miss the final "0", I assume due to a typo).

well i am not perfect.
the devs have all the numbers they need in their database of code and dev mumbojumbo
they could (if willing to try this) will properly base the system of off the skill tree
EDIT: whats more important my terrible math or the idea behind this.

A practice area for combat and piloting would be great too, maybe a series of optional guided tutorials? exactly, as soon as you hit the sp limitation for academy. you get a notification saying you have graduated to war school. You become a professional mercenary once you graduate war school similar to how you graduate college go to law school then become a lawyer or judge And adding OPTIONAL tutorials will help even more. Actually, I meant that as soon as someone buys the skill book and the first rank of a light weapon and a suit, the character is flagged automatically in the matchmaking system as able to be grouped with better geared allies and enemies than militia characters.
If the character has the sp and the skillbooks but does not invest them hoping to gather easy kills, a timer starts and kills per battle are tracked. If the player does not invest their sp in a specific time frame and kills per battle are much higher than average, the sp, if they're still there, are auto invested to an AR and the most trained dropsuit and the player is immediately sent to the next level.
Something similar for advanced or prototype gear, except if the gear in question is a weapon, the character is auto-promoted to advanced or prototype matches. |

Just do an hourly log based system for academy. You get so many hours of time logged in the academy and can only use the starter fits.
Maybe even add a restricted, tutorial step by step mechanic with say about 6 phases then you are released into the academy.
Also, make it account wide so ppl don't just create a second character on same account to troll new players in academy.
The academy is there for two reasons anyway GÇö to give players a trial phase and to prevent spamming new accounts/characters to immediately go into regular games causing trouble. Make it last even longer, account wide, starter fits only and more involved would cut down even more on trolling with slightly better gear from initial passive sp investment and inexperienced players.

I think there should be something kinda like this. But basing it on SP alone would not be the solution. Maybe a combination of SP, K/D and war points. Or something along those lines.
And there should be 4 levels. militia gear only, basic and below, adv and below, pro/officer and below. So if u want to run advance gear to save isk but want to fight proto for the challenge you can. But proto can't enter the adv level. |
