Posting this in here and letting the one in GD die.
Remove active scanners.
Stick with the passive stats.
Heavys have the largest profile, make the most noise, therefore are most easily tracked
assault are at the low end
with scouts being the least detectable
and logis should be between assaults and heavies. armour stacking should introduce a scan profile penalty (if it doesn't already).
there should then be a passive skill like in MAG whereby the more you upgrade the skill, the longer enemies are tracked for on your min-map.
You shouldn't be able to use a target-finder and have everybody on your screen no matter where they are light up for all your squad to see.
I know they removed squad vision, but they didn't really, they just hid it behind an equipment slot, you've just got to fill that slot and you've got 10x more than squad vision could have ever given you.
Everybody should appear on your minimap when making the right amount of noise or moving at a certain speed.
This would mean that scouts would be viable. they should be invisible unless somehow they try to stack armour, which should have a very small penalty on their visibility anyway.

OK let me just tell every new player in a starter fit to run a prototype scout.

That's no different from getting Proficiency 5 to compete against Duvolles. New players are defenseless against anything, not only Scanners.
Leave Scanners alone, the game would be extremely slow without Scanners, now that the Tacnet is absolutely useless.
I finally specced into Profile Dampening and it's awesome. With a single Complex Damp I can beat ADV Scanners. That's not enough in PC, but it's great in Publics.
I recommend it.

Or just make the scanner consumable, like 10 scan before battery depletes, then you can go to a supply depot, like all other consumable equipments.

using a scanner should come at a cost.
in affect the scanner is like active sonar. using it in combat should give away the position of the user.

Please keep ur comments to urself tnx. Why not? Do you like to be perma scanned? It's logical, like you can't constantly spam hives to resupply the troops, you should not be able to spam scansions.
Or another solution can be to make it work like vehicle active module, you can scan for set amount of time and then your equipment have a cool down time.
Or apply to the suits a capacitor.

As Keri said, try using dampeners. If you're too lazy or unwilling to skill into the counter to scanners, then don't complain when you get scanned. You get what you deserve.
FYR, you don't immediately drop dead just because you are scanned. Scan them back and the playing field is even. Use tactics (yes, they do exist even with scanners) and teamwork.
If surprise were the only way to defeat your enemy, everyone would be running scout shotty. |

New players aren't supposed to be great at the game from the start, it keeps them logging in to get better at things and also provides incentive to skill those passive skills as well as to skill things up that overall will help them become more successful. Do you really want to ask the question of how long it took for all the Proto users to get to where they are now? Many of us would have many different answers for you. Bottom line, the SP of a character really does matter in ability. With a base level scanner you see nowhere near as much as what a Proto level scanner sees and even then they are not perfect. I don't think scanners should be removed based on what has been said thus far.
