I remember a while ago, maybe 1.1 or 1.0, I survived an OB while out in the open, but lately I haven't seen or heard of this happening.

ps. and i once survived in a Soma before.

has anybody recently survived an OB without cover? I want to know if this is still possible.

OBs are weak. I frequently get assists from them. Also I have been able to rush objectives in my own blast. Sometimes this results in a suicide but more often then not I just take damage.

I dodge them a lot and i can usually take the splash of one beam, this allows me to survive once in awhile.

I survive them in my heavy fairly often, so long as I'm along the outskirts of the blast. And I almost always survive them in my Incubus, because mobility

Is there a chance i can survive still? Is the heavy the only one that can do this?

Pro tip: OBs have a fixed pattern in which they pulse, and you can use this knowledge to avoid them in many cases.

When you hear the noise, if you run perpendicular to this pulse pattern, you stand a good chance of escaping the OB. If you run in the same line as the pulse, one of them will likely get you -- if not the first, one of the follow-up pulses.

Watch a few OBs from your map view -- pay attention where the first and subsequent pulses occur -- and you'll see what I mean.

A perfectly positioned OB is still going to kill you if you are in the open, but if the position is not perfect you stand a good chance of avoiding them if you immediately run in the right direction.

 Hope this helps....Leadfoot

i frequently survive a splash in my dropsuit. i think it's well tuned, there's just enough of a chance to survive the edge of it that it's exhilarating when you manage to sprint out to freedom.

if there's nothing else harassing me in my soma i can easily tank a standard OB. once i survived two in a row - everything cooled down just in time for the second one. that was fun.

I survived in a Heavy suit. It's not that hard TBH.

Now what I would really love to see is somebody survive a Non-EMP EVE Orbital Strike.
