if it requires a side arm then the brick tanked logi's won't do to well with it, it would be more of an assault weapon. |

Everyone brick tanks. Not just logis. Fix TTK and maybe everyone will stop tanking HP and re-introduce original suit configurations.
No you kill this blueberry hacking the CRU we are camping. I already killed the last 2.

well an assault brick tanking is nothing like a logi brick tanking.
theirs a difference of about 300-400 ehp. |

Not everyone brick tanks but that's another conversation.
The Rail Rifle is supposed to be a good hip-fire breach style weapon. I'm guessing it'll fair well at CQC as long as the user gets the drop on the enemy and can charge their weapon in time. The delay is minor but I'm curious to see its effect in combat. I'm hoping that my assassin scout suit can finish them off quickly enough. It certainly can't be as bad as running into a scrambler rifle.

I doubt a weapon called a RIFLE qualifies as a sidearm.

well many rifles fair better in longer range engagements then close range.
the tac rifle for example fairs much better at medium-long range engagements, then the burst AR, and the burst AR fairs much better at close range engagements. with the delay on the fire time, I wonder how easy it would be to hit a moving target in a short range engagements, and if it would be wiser to bring that form of weapon with an smg at your side. |

I believe calisk means that it is likely that the Rail Rifle will need a sidearm as back-up, not that the Rail Rifle will use up a sidearm slot. |

I dont follow this logic.
Higher TTK will make armor/shield more valuable.
Until other modules are introduced or buffed to make a considerable difference shield, armor and damage mods will always take precedence. |

well back in the day when ttk's were lowers, people tried other fits and different specialities, but yes brick tanking with damage mods has always been the best, raelly the big thing that changed up the game, was the removal of speed tanking.
back in the day your ability to dodge bullets was worth more then just having higher hp, thus the speed penalty on armor actuall meant a lot. In the current build with speed tanking gone it really doesn't matter how fast you are, battles are faught from behind cover and if you are ever caught in the open you are already dead, Imo this is the largest reason behind what has brought armor tanking up to the fore front of the battle field.
for this reason I expect the rail rifle to do very well, but when someone closes the gap I don't expect it to last very long in the short range game. |

The spool up time gains criticality the closer the range to the target. .25 secs is enough timid for guy within AR or SCR to blap you or put you totally on the defensive. I'm very keen to see if the RR Operation skill mitigates the spool time.
I run a SCR and SMG pair and I suspect I'll go RR / SMG for similar reasons...with multiple targets or face to face engagement at relatively close range the drawbacks of those weapons come into play and the strengths of the SMG come out. |

It is pretty simple.
Higher TTK means having to stack less HP which in turn frees up slots to use other modules in. Which means more diversity in suit configuration.
Get it now?

It matters little what the time to kill is, its all about the pace and the way the game progresses. Back in chromosome time to kill was similar but not the same. However because the WAY the game acted people would try different things. I suppose though I have to also concede that this was prior to the auto aim malarkey and I guess people tried new stuff cuz the game was new. Humm difficult one really.

Does one reactive plate as a scout count as tanking? Cause I dont see it this way. Armor is paper thin but I do just fine. Anyways, I just hope the railrifle doesn't end up as a godsend weapon and actually ends up being "Decent" so its not the replacement to the AR. I want it to be good at range and **** at cqc...

I think it won't need a sidearm. .25 seconds is not much time to wait to fire.
any automatic weapon will fare pretty well in CQC, just because it can spew out so much damage.

I dont normally talk a load of rubbish but when i do i want to be able to do it as well as this guy.
Ttk was wwwaaaayy higher in pretty much every version. Aim assits is weak in this game thats proven fact. People tried diffwrent things back then because not stacking health or damage did not = inatant death.
