Looking over the vehicle changes for what seams like the 100th time I finally realized in exchange for 400 shield the gunnlogi gets about 300 more armor. Because (correct me if I'm wrong) the current gunnlogi has only 1200 armor but with the changes it gets 1500 armor.
Hmm I wonder why that is?

I was of the opinion that forge guns do -10% to shield and +10% to armor. Or do you mean they're shield killers in that they are fare better for tacking out shields than swarm launchers that have a -20% to shield and +20% to armor?

My guess is with 2 things.
#1 would be the change to shield regen where small arms fire no longer resets your shield regen cooldown. This will allow your tank to be effective in the fight for much longer and keep your average shield levels higher.
#2 would be the new modules. With the large and instantaneous boost that the shield boosters give now, it will be much more adept at hit and run tactics.
Combine these two and it would explain a lot about the move from what I can see. Shield it's shields will be more effective vs infantry and much more effective in short bursts, they've lowered the shield health to make it more vulnerable when it's modules are on cooldown. You get an "oh-kitten" button now instead of a more sustained presence. This will make it much more viable as a hit-and-run machine.
And the armour was added to make up for the loss in shields :P |

Well according to this dev blog Forge guns are considered a Hybrid - Railgun (long range) and do -10% shield +10% armor.
So your gunlogi got slightly weaker against forge guns (and swarms) by swapping shield for armor, not stronger.
Don't worry though, plasma cannons will have a harder time killing you

My guess is it was to improve shield HAV tanking. The change made a difference, It was noticeable in combat.
