I think we're going to see more variants of tanks now, a PLC is going to wreck their shields regardless. All AV got nerfed, even Forge Guns. All but the Plasma Cannon. Already, if you're someone who has used PLC as AV, you've seen the glimpse of its power. It's vastly underestimated - it's not perfect, but the damage, speed and range with the weapon in combination with its relative ease of use (against vehicles) cannot be understated. Mine is ADV and it can destroy some basic tanks and hassle the top end variants well.
With my Commando suit, some good timing and positioning myself behind: PLC, Swarms = Winning.
P.S; it's amazing against LAVs. The splash damage destroys drivers and turret users. |

Yeah, mechanically speaking there's no real reason to utilize it beyond it being a shiny and super duper fly space cannon.
Good call on the Fitting Optimization, it's pretty much necessary if you're building a dedicated AV suit around it. |

It's not an AV weapon.
That said it does a nice job on shield vehicles and I have soloed many a tank with it. The real prize is that the vehicles (and everyone for that matter) under-estimate the PLC user. So if it gets more popular, or LOL OP LOLOLOL, that advantage is gone...
I think it's an in-between the road weapon designed to work in synergy with swarms, AV grenades and Prox mines. It does well against infantry if it is utilized correctly, but against vehicles it shines more. That's just my experience: Lavs are very vulnerable to the PLC, moreso due to the splash damage taking out the drivers and turret users. Against Saga I and II, it can easily wreck them in a couple of shots.
Against installations and turrets, it's incredibly nice as well but this is a limited scope of its use, too. If we ever get the ability to build such things, that will change.
Really, it's a great weapon.

Commando Suits might see some popularity on the field as dedicated AV suits, I think. Prox mines, PLC, Swarms. Prox the supply depot, camp out.

Haha, we're on the same page. I've been running this setup on an alt for a while, it's super fun when you've got a team that's going vehicle heavy. |
