Yeah. My already gimped character gets screwed over some more. With each patch, I see all my SP becoming more and more worthless as everything I specced into crumbles...

Even with the patch the game kind of remains the same. With low ttk, it is still who sees who first wins. As a Caldari assault AR user, its not that bad, but kind of boring. For Heavies and scouts, I would think it s**ks. They are either too slow or paper thin to get to cover in time. They have to be more formidable to allow variety of gameplay styles. Just wish this issue was addressed.
With the shield nerf, AV, and vehicles, believe we have to wait and see.
Love the new content (volcanoes) and I am exited about FW.(LP and standing, not the griefing)
Great job, team. Head back to the MCC for debriefing and cocktails.

Because 80% of this community are idiots and just want something to complain about.
There are about two groups of people that should be legitimately annoyed while the others are just a little annoyed at not having what they want yet and bitching about it.
Example: I'd really like the Gallente assault to not have a shield bonus and more sidearm diversity but of course I'm not selfish, nor foolish enough to ***** about this patch because it doesn't suit to my needs specifically.
Then there are things like the cold shoulder CCP has been giving the heavies for quite some time now that are legitmate reasons to get pissed. |

Nothing wrong with what is in 1.7, a lot of work went into it, some were upset over the shield thing (I'm not), but trust me if you are part of the cookie cutter med frames, you were prioritized first and had all choices made available to you to establish your playstyle, which actually allows for some real customization, which is pretty huge part of an enjoyable game, compared to the limited content and playstyles offered by the other frames, which makes the game stale very fast (one more months should be the motto)
CCP also doesn't do well with caring for broken suits/roles unless there is some form of outrage, which is the wrong approach to follow because that just invites outrage as the only way to communicate with CCP.
Beyond those who are upset over a particular change (ff, shields, whatever) or another this pretty much explains why people are frustrated.

But that doesn't take away from this patch. What i wanted and expected from 1.7 was vehicles and that's what we got. If you take away vehicles, 1.7 is still a good patch, with a range of improvements, balances, fixes and quality-of-life spread across almost the entire game content.
1.8 is supposed to be the infantry patch, afaik. That's where i'd expect to see scouts and heavies get the attention they need. This next week is prolly the time for those classes to make sure that CCP continues to get quality feedback, since there's prolly still some flexibility in terms of what gets worked on for 1.8 - but do it quick because devtime is going to get locked up pretty fast.
To me, the most encouraging aspect of 1.7 is it is a further confirmation the CCP is sticking to their 'Fixing the Core' roadmap(as were 1.3, 1.4, 1.5, 1.6). That's the right call, and if we compare where we're at with the roadmap we're more than halfway through. That's a hella lotta vegetables, tbh. Hilmar better have some damned fine desserts lined up for us.
yea for sure.... but really in my eyes if u took away all the vehicle changes, there still is ,new weapons, lp, fw, and a lot of other big changes. its still impressive

Ie other than the fist 5 minutes of a match or the need to break out and get uplinka down there is no use for scouts, so scouts are not underpowerd their is just no gameplay roles for them to fill. I.e.. No need to actually scout.
Most scouts want to be frontline fights where basicly the opersite to what a scout class should be.
Also ontopic, at this point its more force if habbit and pkayers being sure they have ccp have screwed up someware :-P
The point with scouts is you can't hide I am totally fine with flanking and sneaking behind enemy lines to hack a letter or with hunting snipers outside the redline. But the problem with all this is you CAN'T hide.
Even if you lower you profile to a number that even the focussed active scanner can't beat the scanner user still know you are there. The only thing you can hide is your exact position on the tacnet but thats it.
And now throw in a rather bad slot layout with only little CPU/PG a nimble speedavantage with paperthin HP and all this with improved hitdetection and aim assist. This leads to scouts beeing running corpses most the time... |

I am not happy because CCP again made a bad decision with the SP refund. tank players can basically respec into suits and I guess most will leaving those players with massive SP invested into AV (which also gets nerfs) with weaker weapons against less targets to shoot.
just a note, alot people skilled up for something and CCP made their choice meaningless and I am not talking about nerfs, I am talking about core changes. just a simple example are people that decided to go for scouts where patch after patch CCP changed the dynamic and mechanic of their choices with changes in the core gameplay and simply made the class almost useless (with stuff like speed changes and aim assist). they got penalized for no reason, those players deserve a respec too.
in short, tank players should only be allow to place their SP back into tank skills. either everyone has to live with their choices or no one, it cant be more simple. |

The only problem with the scout is that their PG and CPU are so limited that they can't fit the modules need for their work and/or to survive.

Well as a big skeptic of the game over the last half a year or so I will say 1.7 is looking to be the best patch yet. However I think the problem is CCP promised / slated too much from the start.
Aside from current glaring issue, both with game design like the scouts, and the MAJOR game bugs especially PC lag and really low frame-rate issues (That has ONLY JUST been spotted by a dev to be "Looked into after 1.7" I might add), I think CCP tried to show us a vision that is either -
A. Going to take about a decade to create at this rate or B. They wanted but they realise is not achievable, unless they have plans for a PC or PS4 release as I think the PS3 is just too limiting.
A lot of people have tried dust and decided they didn't like it. Not because the premise of the game is crap but I think because the implementation has been very slow and execution has been weak at times.
Others have stuck the game out for over a year, some since the very first days of beta. Still some people believe while Chromosome wasn't perfect, it had many features that made the game more fun back then. Not only that - over a year of buying boosters and aurum from CCP and they have not a lot to show in the way of progress.
Couple that with the new consoles and constant new titles popping out - its a hard choice indeed to stick with DUST.
EDIT- My issue with scouts is mainly that after the autoaim bollocks, scouts no longer have a speed advantage, at least in terms of survivability. The autoaim killed the game for me personally. There are many other problems just look at Shottys scout thread, look how many people have left or are leaving. Quite the indication if you ask me. |

Because it is THEIR imbalanced game that we are waiting on THEM to balance. They released a game that wasn't finished and said, we will get the rest of the game out SoonTM. Well its been a year, we still have half a game. Up to this point, only a few patches (that's generous) have been enjoyable. The basic problems with lag and rendering aren't yet fixed. Instead we get a "press start to see the front of your character" gimmick.
Couple that with CCP changing suit loadouts and modules frequently, people feel like they're wasting SP and time when CCP does this. They don't offer respecs....why stick around to play a buggy game with creators that really don't give a **** about you or your character? There are many other games on the PS3 that offer more enjoyment, I think what Dust does have is an excellent idea, the "WoW of FPS". Someone will come along SOONtm and nail this idea. I think we'd like it to be CCP, but honestly they've proven they don't have what it takes to put a game on a console. |

Personally I think this patch was a step in the right direction, bringing a lot of things to play that should have been this way from the beginning. Tanks have survivability now, av isnt all powerful against them and make them have to constantly run away. They cant shoot swarms at people from the tops of towers with no chance of missing anymore. Great additions.
Tank updates for their rendering, great thing! No they can actually use the damn railguns at a range that their meant to be used at.
Rifle updates remain to be seen but im hoping for a larger effective range for the laser rifle, smaller range for the assault rifles, and maybe a little less cqc accuracy for the scrambler rifles. Those would all be really nice. Set those ar's to 50 meters for their damage dropoff and theyd perform fine where their suppose to.
New weapons remain to be seen but I will be playing around with basic level rail rifles in the future. Looks like they actually come with optics now. Combat rifles look like oversized smgs and will likely play like one. Really hope they got the dispersal patterns better for something like that or its going to be screamed from the hills for a nerf with that rate of fire.
This is coming from a scout who loved his scan range buff. Now I have around a 31 meter passive scan radius. Kinda love it, if it was just consistent now Id be happy.
