HMG was at its best in Replication. It outgunned all the light weapons and induced massive anal evacuations to any red within proximity. People thought it was OP as hell back then but if you didn't pay attention to heat build up and your clip size, you were basically screwed. Scouts were also the anti-christ to heavies back then, able to bounce around like little strafing bastards.
I tried to put a level into Amarr Commando once, but got a server notification saying "Why?"

If they have to nerf the HMG from there, increase heat build up, reload speed, and rescind the HP buff. The whole idea of a heavy was to have larger HP and more firepower at the cost of mobility. Heavies need to be heavies.

Sinboto Simmons wrote:I love them but unfortunately can't use one on my scout, also Amarr heavy eww, wouldn't it be funny to see a Matari scout with an HMG we're strong enough lore wise to carry one anyway...... Minmatar heavy is going to be so epic. 6.9m/s sprint speed, drool...

Having the current heavy with the Replication HMG would be OP. They tried to balance things out by making heavies the most SP intensive. Before the wipe, all we saw were heavies.

Cat Merc wrote:It shouldn't go back to full on replication HMG. It should be somewhere inbetween. That's what I've been saying. Same stats as Replication but higher heat build up and a longer reload. They'll able to out gun anyone dumb enough to go toe-to-toe with them, but not for extended periods of time or for multiple encounters.
